The cervical spine (your neck) does a lot more work than most people realize. It supports the weight of your head, allows you to move in multiple directions, and protects the nerves that travel from your brain to the rest of your body. With long hours at a desk, time on phones, driving, training, and daily stress, it’s no surprise that the neck is one of the most common areas where people feel pain or stiffness.
When the muscles around the cervical spine become tight or overworked, they can limit movement, create headaches, and contribute to discomfort in the shoulders and upper back.
Massage therapy can help by reducing muscle tension, improving circulation, and restoring mobility to the surrounding tissues. By addressing the muscles that support the cervical spine, massage can help decrease pain, improve posture, and support healthier movement patterns.
A healthy neck isn’t just about comfort - it’s important for overall function, posture, and long-term spinal health.
Taking care of your cervical spine means paying attention to how you sit, how you move, and giving your body the recovery it needs.
We recommend a massage a month for optimal cervical spine health.

The upper chest and clavicle region play a huge role in shoulder mobility, posture, breathing, and even lymphatic flow.
In this series you’ll see a few techniques we commonly use in treatment:
▫️ Pec myofascial release
▫️ Lymphatic drainage toward the axilla
▫️ Swedish work to subclavius
▫️ Deep tissue pec work
▫️ Gentle clavicle joint mobilizations
Why does this matter?
✔️ Desk posture
✔️ Shoulder pain
✔️ Neck tension
✔️ Post-surgical swelling
✔️ Athletic performance
Thoughtful chest work is always consent-based, well-draped, and purposeful. When indicated, it can be a game changer for how the shoulder and neck feel and move.
Questions about whether this type of work is right for you?

👉 Ever had neck or shoulder tension that just wouldn’t go away? The clavicle might be part of the puzzle.
The clavicle, or collarbone, is a small but mighty bone that plays a huge role in shoulder function, posture, and movement.
💡 Why the clavicle matters in massage therapy:
✔️ The clavicle acts as a bridge between the arm and the trunk - any restriction here can affect the neck, shoulder, and upper back
✔️ Several key muscles attach to the clavicle, including:
• Upper trapezius
• Pectoralis major
• Deltoid
• Sternocleidomastoid (SCM)
🧠 What massage can help with:
✨ Reduce tension in muscles that pull on the clavicle
✨ Improve shoulder mobility and mechanics
✨ Support better posture (especially with desk work or cycling)
✨ Decrease neck and shoulder discomfort caused by clavicular restriction
⚠️ Important note:
Massage therapists usually work around the clavicle (not directly on the bone) to help its function.
📍 Clinical takeaway:
When the clavicle doesn’t move well, the shoulder often compensates and that’s where pain and dysfunction can show up.
