This is what happens when lighting gets a seat at the design table.

For ElevateBio's board room, the team at DiMella Shaffer specified a cluster of Hexagon luminaires from our Endless family, finished in Black Metallic Textured. Each Hexagon traces a single unbroken six-sided line, a balance between a polygon and a circle. Grouped together, the individual luminaires read as one continuous form above the room.

Product SPOTLIGHT: PUZZLE™

Five organic shapes. Three sizes each. A ceiling that reads as a composition, not a grid.

Puzzle is Beta-Calco's curvilinear decorative family, buoyant and cheerful in profile and designed to be grouped into larger arrangements across lobbies, library reading rooms, and the modern spaces in between. Each shape and size is its own separately ordered luminaire, so the layout is specified piece by piece rather than adapted from a single unit.

Two mountings carry the family. Puzzle Suspended comes in Direct or Direct/Indirect, with the largest Direct/Indirect models delivering up to 14,100 lumens. Puzzle Wall or Ceiling Surface is Direct only and ADA rated for wall mounting. Both share nine powder-coat finishes, four color temperatures, and a choice of 80 or 90 CRI.

Product SPOTLIGHT: SQUIGGLE™

Light that goes wherever the design does.

SQUIGGLE is our curvilinear light system built from curves of various radii, straight runs, and joiners. Specifiers shape each run to wrap around structural elements, trace a ceiling line, or carry light through a space in one continuous gesture, so the luminaire reads as part of the architecture, not an addition to it.

Multiple color temperatures and an RGBW option cover everything from clean white light to full color. Ten finishes plus three wood grains give each configuration its own character. Ideal for lobbies, board rooms, and the modern spaces in between.

BELLOWS reworks the standard linear system into a pleated, sculptural form, introducing rhythm, depth, and character to the ceiling plane. Inspired by the ridged profile of fireplace bellows, this 2.5" aperture luminaire pairs an expressive ceiling profile with high-efficacy performance.

Shahzeb Siddiqui, Engineering Team Lead

Good lighting starts long before it reaches a ceiling. It starts with the people who turn concepts into real products. To open our Meet the Team series, meet Shahzeb Siddiqui, our Engineering Team Lead and the engineer behind our latest product, Bend-It.

✎ How long have you been with Beta-Calco, and how did you get here?
I've been with Beta-Calco for 8 years. After completing my studies in Mechanical Engineering, I joined as a Design Engineer and have continued to grow both technically and professionally throughout my career here.

✎ What does a typical week look like as Engineering Team Lead?
My role is about supporting both our customers and the engineering team through technical and operational work. I create quotation drawings, Bills of Materials, and SOPs, and I guide and mentor engineers on CAD design and documentation. I also focus on improving efficiency through workflow optimization while managing product configurations and the technical specification pages on our website.

✎ Walk us through a recent lighting challenge and how you solved it.
A recent challenge was designing a flexible joint for our linear product line that could rotate at various angles while staying durable and preventing light leaks. I developed an overmolded silicone and cast aluminum design that kept the flexibility while creating a secure, tight connection.

✎ What's your favorite part of working at Beta-Calco?
I enjoy turning concepts into real products and solving design challenges that improve manufacturability, assembly, and overall product quality. I also like finding ways to streamline and automate engineering processes to help the whole team work more efficiently.
