This time, I used the hard gel shape correction technique.

Not every natural nail can support a long-lasting gel overlay. In this case, the weak sidewalls would likely cause lifting as the nails grow out, usually after the second week.

The solution wasn’t adding more product—it was correcting the nail’s structure. I rebuilt the shape with hard gel and carefully filed the natural nail from underneath. This allows the hard gel to provide the strength instead of relying on the weak natural nail, creating stronger sidewalls, a balanced apex, and a shape that stays stable until the next appointment.

Choosing between a regular gel overlay and a hard gel shape correction isn’t just about what the client wants. It’s mostly based on the natural nail and which technique will give the strongest, longest-lasting result.
