This immensely cruel hunt has plagued my heart since my university days when I first found out about it 💔💔💔

Endangered long-tailed macaques are being used in horrific experiments in Canada. Investigations show that these sentient beings are being illegally trafficked in Cambodia and shipped to Canada, claiming they were captive-bred. This entire situation is cruel, unethical, and unacceptable 💔💔

What a sweet face!! 🥰 Dhubiya is now a happy lioness thanks to the rescuing efforts of Animal Defenders International
Dhubiya was a victim of the cruel illegal wildlife pet trade. She was found abandoned and starving in the desert near Kuwait City. Without the heroes at ADI, Dhubiya would not have survived.

Hyper vigilance is required if posing with wildlife for photos - if not from a verified sanctuary, the animals are often victims of wildlife trafficking. And big cats are often drugged to be able to take photos. I witnessed this with a tiger many years ago in Montreal. It was shocking and heartbreaking that people were posing with a drugged tiger!! I called the authorities and reported it immediately.

Described as “an elusive and almost mythical sight,” India’s rare black tiger was featured on the cover of National Geographic’s October 2025 issue by the talented and persistent photographer and National Geographic Explorer Prasenjeet Yadav.

The stunning photo was taken in the only known habitat of this distinct tiger in Similipal National Park, Odisha. The park is home to about 30 tigers of which half are black tigers.

The black tiger, also known as a pseudo-melanistic tiger, has a unique black stripe pattern caused by a genetic mutation.
This rare genetic mutation, highlights what can happen when an animal population resides in a small area without access to a diverse gene pool.

The black tigers are helping to raise awareness about the importance of genetic diversity, habitat conservation, genetic diversity, and the need to help endangered species globally.
