When I was trying to get clear skin…

I was looking to see what other people were doing.

Every time someone said: “This worked for me.”

I thought it meant an adult, with an adult brain, with adult cognitive processing, and adult logic had thought really deeply about the problem and was sharing a solution.

A real solution!

To my chagrin, I realized that no. 😱

Lots of times these weren’t adults, these were young ache-sufferers, sometimes younger than me.

Or if they were adults, they were adults in the process of trying the next thing that they’ll realize doesn’t actually work in a couple of weeks.

Adults struggling with their skin, maybe even very obsessed with this organ…

These weren’t enlightened thoughts from people who understood and solved the problem, these were the rantings of desperate people wanting to understand and solve the problem.

When I realized this, I knew I had to start over again.
From scratch.

Unlearn all the conclusions that were jumped to…
And learn how this stuff really worked.

I never asked to be the adult in the room, but for my skin’s sake I had to become her.

And here I am with 9.5 years of clear skin and thousands of people helped. 👋

✨I learned that our skin health is a delayed reflection of our skincare habits
✨That healthy people get acne (I was one of them!)
✨That most people have no clue that skincare is a skill
✨Acne (and other skin conditions) can be created, self-inflicted, by accident
✨This is a huge blindspot
✨And that the acne struggle is the product of very very bad influence (and algorithmic bubbles)

See, you won’t get far in terms of clear skin if you believe in made up things.

And you will have to change your mind about what you thought you knew about getting clear skin.

My account will help you 🤝💝

Start with my highlights, Clearheaded podcast, 28 Days of Clear Skin, and my YT channel for effective solutions to your skin problems.

Influencers don’t know anything about acne.

Yet they’ve hijacked the acne conversation with their BS.

When they share “acne” content, it’s actually a variety of skin conditions that are usually *not* acne.

But they don’t know the difference 💩

It doesn’t stop them from filling your mind with bad ideas about skin and skin health.

For example, someone sent me a video of a pretty big “acne” influencer…

Who was like, “I’m proof that if your skin is acne-prone, it’s acne-prone for life.”

So here *I am*.
Proof of the opposite.

With countless transformations over the last 8 or so years…

Intentionally and strategically!

And if you want to get ANYWHERE in life, you need to look for examples of what IS possible, instead of listening to those who don’t know sh*t about f*ck.

If someone’s struggling with acne for years.
Always trying random hacks, solutions, and cures?

And THEY determine that because they tried “everything”, nothing works and therefore “acne is incurable”.

That’s a logic issue.

👋If I try everything and nothing works, the conclusion is I DON’T KNOW WHAT I’M DOING.

❌Not that a solution doesn’t exist.

So don’t fall for the madness.
Learn more.

Give your skin the respect of genuinely trying to understand it before putting random marketing labels on it.

Life hack: USE MY RESOURCES.

Your skin health is waaaaay to important to listen to professional acne-havers.

Yeah, that’s a thing.

Your skin is not even acne-prone (got a reel on that I’ll link here!).

K?

Shopping for skincare can be super confusing!

Especially when the marketing is soooo persuasive.

Brands have to differentiate themselves from their competitors, and as their competitors catch up on the language, the language has to evolve.

Thats how we got:
✨dermatologically tested
✨hypoallergenic
✨non-comedogenic
✨all natural
✨clean
etc.

It’s nothing more than marketing.

Yet, most skincare consumers don’t know this and rely on this language to choose formulas.

You spend all that money on “cleaner” products…

Then you’re confused why your skin isn’t cooperating.

Precisely because clean is meaningless.

And there’s no shortcut to buying excellent products besides being well versed in the biology of skin, some cosmetic chemistry, and marketing psychology.

If you don’t have this, you will inevitably fall for marketing.

You have to learn how to meet your skin’s needs — “clean” doesn’t help you do that.

(My content will though! So check out the Clearheaded podcast, my YT channel, and transformation highlights!👆)

Does this make sense?

I’m just connecting dots.

People struggle with acne for decades😬

To the point where they’ll convince themselves it’s normal.

It’s not.

But you have to look at your blindspots to understand wtf is going on and why.

‼️It all starts with an unrealistic definition of clear skin; a definition that is unattainable.

The marketing/algorithms/PDFfile-beauty-industry convinced you that:

1️⃣pimple = acne
pores = flaws
dynamic, changing skin = pathology

So when your skin behaves like NORMAL skin, you see it as something that needs fixing.

These manufactured flaws become fixations…

You feel like you have to GET RID of them.
Permanently.

So you look to see what other people (who have also fallen under the influence of marketing) are doing, and then do the same things.

You buy A TON of stuff, try a ton of stuff, spend a lot of money, and a lot of time…

Your skin only gets worse.

Right, because the flaws you were seeking to get rid of weren’t flaws.

And you treated healthy skin as though it’s sick.

In fact, you treated your healthy SELF as though you were sick (“acne is a reflection of your inner health” myth is pushed hard by the algo BOOO).

Here’s the most important thing I see with some clients who have struggled with their skin for YEARS, and are finally living with clear skin.

They forget how the struggle started (obsessing over a made-up flaw, looking too closely at the skin, fixating).

AND THE START ALL OVER AGAIN trying to get rid of a random pimple, treating their skin as though it’s not healthy, normal, and clear.

You need to get off this hamster-wheel of skin-sabotage if you want to create years of clear skin with:

❶know-how: skincare is a skill
❷well-formulated products: quality matters
❸consistency: without it, nothing works
❹patience: without it, nothing works
❺dropping the acne identity: otherwise, skin-sabotage

See my transformations if you want proof that I know wtf I’m talking about.😎👆

If you can’t accept real, clear skin with that occasional pimple, prepare for a needless struggle against your skin.

And a not-so-fun case

It wasn’t hormones or diet!

It was an experiment where I completely changed my skincare habits.

I went from taking consistent care of my skin…

To:
1️⃣a month of honey to cleanse and jojoba oil to moisturize
2️⃣a month of using argan oil
3️⃣a month of just using water

⚠️My skin did NOT look like that before photo overnight!

Noooooo

The clogging and inflammation was subtle at first, mostly some subtle texture differences.

It took about a month to start getting the big juicy pimples.

The nothing but water month was the worst though.

Because guess what water doesn’t do well?
Clean. 🧽

So my oily skin + summer heat + pollution + sweat of course turned into a disaster zone.

But guess what?
I didn’t realize it was my experiments on the surface of my skin that created this mess. 🫣

Because random people on the internet said that I MUST BE SICK INSIDE. 🤬

Despite getting glowing yearly check-ups with my doctor, despite feeling healthy AF, I even spent over 1000$ CAD on a naturopath and her dumb tests.

1 more month of flailing with my skincare habits, a realization popped into my head.

🧠“This all started when I switched my skincare products.”

From then on, I went back to my supportive skincare habits and have maintained clear skin for over NINE YEARS.

👉Remember: skincare is meant to keep our skin in good condition

But it’s been hijacked by marketing and propaganda, where most people forgot it’s intended function.

👉Also: skin is a resilient organ, damage takes time

So you might forget about a subtle change in your habits, that lead to a domino effect of damage and your current skin condition.

👉Skincare is a skill that none of us were taught

It’s easy to blame your insides for the care your skin is missing on the outside.

If you hear hooves, think horses, not zebras.

🚨If your skin looks like a BEFORE pic, think skincare blindness, not internal health issues.

Don’t believe me? See all the transformations in my highlights. ✨

When I had acne…

I thought it was because of my hormones, diet, genes too.

But the truth was, I didn’t know how to take care of my skin and was unintentionally destroying it.

Once I learned how to take effective care of my skin, I’ve been able to maintain clear skin for NINE years now.

You can see my transformation in my highlights (along with hundreds of other transformations). 📸📸📸

The bottom line is we all have hormones, and our hormones will fluctuate, sometimes dramatically during NORMAL phases in life like puberty.

It doesn’t help to vilify them, especially when they’re literally doing what they’re supposed to!

What can you do instead?

ℹ️Learn how to support and protect your skin so well that you only get an occasional pimple (this is healthy!).

Yes, that occasional pimple might coincide with the time of the month — but since a pimple takes WEEKS to form, it means it COINCIDES with the time of the month and is not CAUSED by it.

Clear? 🫶

Your hormones always fluctuate, even once you get your clear skin back…They are messengers, always going places and making stuff happen!

Hormones are AMAZING.

So cheers to hormonal clear skin! 😄😆

Biggest icks 👇🤢

🚩Filters: especially when it’s someone promoting/selling skincare or makeup ✌️instant unfollow

🚩Faceless skincare accounts: when they share all kinds of products and advice in sometimes very beautiful carousels, but there’s no face to see if the person can put their so-called knowledge into action (many of them reach out to me for help with their skin condition)

🚩Acne positivity: though well-intentioned, these accounts spread the most acne misinformation and myths, and sometimes really unhinged skincare tips due to their huge skincare blindspot and desperation

🚩Dermatologists or doctors turned influencers: they use authority bias to gain your trust and then peddle the same products that any run of the mill influencers do💸

🚩Holistic acne journey accounts: acne is not supposed to be a journey, and it isn’t holistic (requiring journalling, nervous system regulation, diets, supplements, “functional” testing, read: obsession). It def will be a journey if you don’t know what you’re doing or if you follow people like this.

🚩“Eat your skincare”: can’t be more ignorant about skincare and skin function, but nowadays nutritionists and even fitness coaches love to talk about SKIN, a topic they didn’t study or understand 😭

I have cleaned up my algorithm so well, that I barely ever get any skincare content.

❌Certainly no skincare hauls, ADvice, or FOMO.

I found that even as a skin health coach, especially in my early days, I’d still get influenced to try trending things.

It would always lead to temporarily inflamed or irritated skin.🫠

I had to learn the lesson the hard way a few times to start to fully trust my own understanding of skincare and skin health, and with this commitment I’ve been able to maintain 9.5 years of clear skin now! ✅

If you need help getting your clear skin back with way less consumption, make sure to follow ✨
