Ain’t that the truth ✨

Well... I was working from home doing facials and skincare for about a year while also working part-time. My part-time job wound down and I was in limbo awaiting a new business partnership/spa space that fell through and then effective July 1, Health Canada were changing the requirements for anyone performing a personal service needing a designated sink for repurposing and were shutting down my small home based business.

Both of these things hurt me and caused me incredible stress. I didn’t know where my next $ was coming from, I developed raging tinnitus and felt my world crashing in.

I turned to creative therapy and began working with resin and crystals. Never having done anything like it before.
Purely for my own therapeutic reasons. I’d put on my favourite music and lose myself in creativity for hours. It poured out of me and has continued to since. My work improving with each piece.
So much so that now people are paying me to do custom pieces!

Since I found this creative outlet, my universe shifted.
Two amazing full time job offers came my way within a day of each other and people are now wanting my art on their walls!
I’ve been contacted by spas, homeowners, businesses etc to ask about custom pieces.

So, while I still love everything skincare and still make my own products, this is where I’m at the moment and I need to follow the path open to me 💖 if interested in my pieces, please follow my art page

Thank you for taking the time to read 💖 changes

Love this skincare babe!
While always wearing sun protection is advisable, especially if you want great skin, we don’t always remember to apply.

We get confused about chemical vs physical and when to apply.
Here this beauty babe breaks down what’s in each and what it does.

Personally I’ll always go for a block!
How about you?

Picking the type of sunscreen you use is definitely a personal choice. Here is a graphic showing how each of them work and what active ingredients to look for or avoid on the bottle. ☀️

Cellular turnover is the process by which our skin produces new skin cells that travel from the bottom (basal) level, to the top (stratum corneum). During the life cycle of a cell it starts off round, lubricated and smooth, and as it makes its way to the surface it develops a drier granular and rougher appearance. When it reaches the surface it dies and sheds off.
The natural life cycle of a cell slows as we age.
Approx - 👶🏻Babies -14 days 👱🏻‍♀️Teens - 21-28 days 👩🏼Middle age - 28 - 42 days 👩🏻‍🦳50+ - 42 - 80 days
Which is why, as we age, the skin we see at the surface becomes duller, loses its glow and why it’s important to help the cellular life cycle along a bit.
If the top layer of skin is made up of lots of dead skin cells, all those lovely products you put on your skin isn’t doing much but sitting on top of dull dead skin.

Exfoliation by ways of scrubs, enzymes, acids all help to slough off dead skin. How you exfoliate depends on your skin type and tone.
My rule of thumb for exfoliation:
Thick, oily skin - 1-3 x a week (scrubs, enzymes)
Normal/Combination skin - 1-2 x a week (enzymes or Aha acids)
Dry/Senstive skin - 1 x a week (Mild Enzymes, lactic Acid)
No matter what your skin type, Always, always exfoliate gently.
Regular facials help to keep skin in tip-top shape. With deeper cleansing, exfoliation customized to your current skin condition, lots of massage to stimulate oxygen rich blood and encourage lymphatic drainage and toning muscles, Masques.
Plus an hour or so a month of unplugging and deep relaxation while you let someone take care of you, helps your overall well-being.
Many of my clients report a deeper sleep the day of the facial.
You’re worth it. Make the time.
Keep it simple. Self Love. Age Gracefully. Book a Facial.

Ultrasonic extraction for those pesky clogged pores.
When I was in Esthetics school, one of my least favourite things to do was extraction.
It’s my belief that done incorrectly, more harm is done than good.
I suffered for my training, and felt first hand how aggressive and uncomfortable it can be.
Any kind of extraction should not take longer than 10-15 mins.
With this tool, it makes my job extracting stubborn clogs and build up a lot easier, and far less uncomfortable for the client.
No red inflamed skin after treatment either.
Not everyone needs extraction during a facial, but for those that do, this is my fave tool to use.
Also has a little blue LED, which is great for treating acne bacteria lurking!

Prepping an organic cotton sheet Masque for this morning’s client.
She has slightly sensitive skin, so we are using lovely soothing, hydrating and cooling ingredients such as aloe, hyaluronic Acid, rosewater, niacinamide, Vit E and Ferulic Acid.
Custom made sheet mask.
