This varies, based on a few different things. Speed of hair growth, length, texture and amount of hair are all variables to consider. Hair typically grows anywhere from 1/2 to 3/4" a month. Short hair(chin length and shorter) should be cut anywhere from every 4-8 weeks, in order for ease of daily routine. Mid-Length (longer than chin to just past shoulders )should be cut every 8-12 weeks in order to keep shape. Long Hair(Past shoulders and beyond) shoud be cut every 10- 16 weeks if we're keeping ends healthy and the length frizz free. These are all general guidelines, but will certainly make your day to day easier if followed.

Brushing your scalp before you shampoo promotes blood flow, loosens dandruff and dry skin. Once shampooed and conditioned, you will have some reprieve from these symptoms. I like to do this the evening before I shampoo, as brushing the oil through the hair can also prevent frizz.

Ooof, this is a complex one. Always default to asking a trained professional but here is a breakdown of suggestions based on length and texture.

Pastes- typically used on short hair 1/2” to 2”. There is no hard and fast rule about using them on longer as they can be used to create a piecy texture also. Most paste has a relatively matte finish therefore they are great for finer oily hair, but can be used on all hair textures.
Pomade- traditionally used for a more sleek, wet look. Combed into the hair when wet for a lasting texture defining hold. Optimal length would not be longer than 3-4”.
Waxes- for piecy shine. Best on medium to coarse hair(unless they are a dry matte wax. For hair shorter than 3”.
Gels - shiny, strong hold. Best on super short, under 2”. Unless your style is a Mohawk and in that case length does not matter.
Mousse-decent for super silky, fine wavy/curly hair that needs all the hold it can get. Any length. Note that a lot of mousses have an alcohol base. Try to avoid these ones if you are wavy/curly, as it is very drying.
Creams- Wowza!!! This category is big and covers everything from creamy leave in conditioners, smoothing creams and the big subcategory of curl creams. These are best on mid-length, think shoulders and longer. Leave ins are best on mid-shaft to ends for a polished, non fuzzy finish. Air or blown dry. Great for most hair textures. Smoothing creams are also great for mid-shaft to ends, on medium to coarse hair textures. Curl creams are good for loose waves to corkscrew curls and if I’m being honest, it’s a bit of trial and error. If you have looser waves you want a lighter curl cream with hold, which will dry with some stiffness that you can soften. For tighter curls you want a curl cream that will provide moisture to nourish. To separate and defrizz those beauties.
Hairspray- best used when gold is what you’re seeking. Nothing else compares and there are so many strengths of hold on the market, which means there is something for everyone. Drier sprays are great for a more textured look and are typically a lighter hold. If you want your style to go nowhere, you are looking for a firm hold finish.
