I really believe that in this industry we can never stop growing. Since I started at Butchers in April, I’ve felt such a sincere passion for my career again. I’ve always loved my job, but it just feels different lately.

That being said, I tried something a little different with my mom when she was visiting. We’ve been doing highlights and a root tap to grey blend since 2020, but her hair is really fragile, so having to lift the tap, and avoid overlapping on her fine hair is not the best. She also never feels blonde enough, but her hair can’t take more.

She had a full head done a few months ago, so this time, I decided to shift focus. I did a half head of slices, air touched. This will make it easier to avoid overlapping in the future AND avoid doing a root tap! Underneath I only did six hairline highlights for when her hair is up, but I went through and tediously picked up each dark piece in her ends to balayage.

What we achieved is giving her a much brighter, and softer feel, while avoiding any overlap, and setting ourselves up for safer future applications. What I achieved is giving my mom her blonde dreams 🩷

Literally couldn’t have done it without ! We used the fabulous new high lift enlightened, and miraculous oil, as well as all the botanical repair along the way!

Salon. Details.

Ahhhh this one was a long time coming. She first came to me after having gone to a salon to blend her greys, and they broke her base, leaving her with tons of red tones between her highlights. This unfortunately, was the second time this happened to her.

So we went on a recovery mission. As much as I love a colour correction, this was not something that could be done in a day. So we spent five months periodically toning her all over to as close to her natural colour as possible.

This was done for two reasons
1. If we had toned it once and then gone over with highlights, the cool colour would fade quickly and she’d be left with red toned ruining her blonde once again.
2. As her colour had just been done at a different salon, we couldn’t see her greys, at all. She wanted her highlight placement to truly accent her grey. We couldn’t do this if we couldn’t see where it was coming from.

I’m so grateful for the trust that was put with me for this process, and the results were worth the wait! She was the perfect client through it all, coming in regularly for tones, knowing that would give her the best longevity once we did the blonde. This appointment was in the summer, and we’ve refreshed the blonde once since. No signs of residual warmth, and it grew out so seamlessly!
