This photoshoot was for Hairdressing Awards in Vancouver in 2006. I wanted to use a new photographic technique for the shots, that highlighted the folds in the black clothes. I like techniques that catch the eye but don’t distract from the hair.

This photo shoot was for a hair competition by in 2006 that was photographed by . I wanted a coloured disconnected piece, so we coloured a false piece and this was the result.

For this look, with model Joanna Kulpa once again, I wanted to try a different backdrop to the more traditional plain colour usually used in hair photos, so I chose this graphical fabric. Because of the Goth feel of the clothes, I needed a contrasting hair colour. It was interesting, but in the end, I think the background does take away from the hair.

This piece was created for a charity hair show, called Beauty Gives Back in 2017. Doing avant garde work does not come naturally to me, but working with a group of talented hair stylists who do a lot of that work stretched my ability. I wanted to do something unusual, so I bought some plastic sheeting that had holes punched in it. I then weaved hair through the sheeting to make a band of material that was over a meter long.

This photoshoot was also done for the Toni&Guy hairdressing awards in 2006. I wanted a monochromatic shoot, where the hair stood out, and with a Photoshop technique that made the light reflections pop to a brilliant white.

Another shoot at with photographer Jae Jeong. My model, Madeline, had lovely curly hair that breathes fresh versatility to her look. I love the apricot colour of her hair!

This photoshoot was done in 2006, and was a winner at Hairdresser of the Year Awards. I was working alongside and stylist Luisa Rino for this shoot.

This photoshoot alongside was done in my condo in Vancouver. I wanted to produce a creative that we might get good pictures from. I loved working with Angels hair, the texture was amazing. We cut it and gave her a few highlights that were toned to suit her skintone.

Part of the charity show, Show it Off, at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in 2019, this was a dancing sequence, so the hair had to be nice and firm on the head. The inspiration was from a scene in Blade Runner: there was a party in which some women were wearing hats with nets. I also wanted to put a bit of architectural design in the look, so I finished it with a nice long pony for some movement.

This was my very first photoshoot in Vancouver, back in 1999. Working with photographer Simon Chu, this photo was for a collection, then we did the hair for the runway show.

Photographed in 2011 in the Chairman’s suite in Vancouver’s Pacific Rim Hotel for . Model Kyla, always modern, let me cut her hair short for this shoot.

This is one of my most recent shoots with photographer Jae Jeong back in 2018. In this particular shoot, I wanted to incorporate some wording on the hair, so I stenciled “DON’T JUDGE,” as sadly people often do.
