We regret to inform you that we have no other options but to close the business “Banana Tans”. Our last day of business will be on Monday August 28th, 2023 @ 6pm. After that date Banana Tans will no longer be offering any type of products or services.
The decision to close this business was not an easy one and we’ve enjoyed the relationships with each and everyone of our customers over the years.
Since the forced relocation of the business to this new location in spring 2020, we have been challenged by the rebuild post Covid Pandemic, the ongoing restricted parking & construction associated with the Broadway Skytrain project and as of late the 4 month heatwave that began in May, all this has caused a 75% drop in business creating an unsustainable business.
We have tried to work with our landlord and the local business community to find relief to our economic challenges of the past 3 years but have run out of options.
We would like to thank the community of Mount Pleasant and all our customers that we have done business with over the years. This neighborhood was chosen in 2007 because of its vibrancy, sense of community, a friendly place to do business and a growing retail community.
The East-West Broadway corridor is faced with many challenges; hostile traffic patterns / construction closures / loss of street parking / business accessibility / loss of pedestrians and the closure of so many businesses in just the last 18 months. We now are just another casualty of these many challenges.
We thank you for an amazing 17 years, Banana Tans could not have been as successful as it was without your loyalty.

The decision to close this business was not an easy one and we’ve enjoyed the relationships with each and everyone of our customers over the years.
Since the forced relocation of the business to our current location in spring 2020, we have been challenged by the rebuild post CoVid pandemic, the ongoing construction associated with the Broadway SkyTrain project and as of late the heatwave that began in May which has no sign of letting up, with this being identified as the new normal: these factors have created a hostile and unprofitable business environment.

We have tried to work with our landlord, new investors and the local business community to find relief to our economic challenges of the past 3 years and have exhausted all our options.

For all of us, this has been a heartbreaking set of circumstances for a business that was considered among the best in the North American Indoor Tanning Industry.

Banana Tans could not have been as successful as it was for more than 16 years without the loyalty of our clients, the dedication of the staff, suppliers and the local community.

We would like to thank all our customers that we have done business with over the years, we will miss you.
