This weekend I completed the first course in the two-year Biodynamic Fascial Integration series at Bodhi Tree Teaching Centre. It was a fascinating dive into cranial fascial manipulation and a wonderful start to the process!
It's been great working at Spa Utopia Pan Pacific for the last two years, but I'm happy to say that now I'm at Serene Massage Therapy, on West Broadway, right above the Book Warehouse!
I'm available Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 9am - 6:30pm. Come and see me some time!

What a year! Thanks to everyone who helped make it so good. I've had great clients, and lots of support from the folks at Trikinetic Massage Therapy. Starting now, I'm at Trikinetic one day a week, Mondays 11:45a- 9:00p. Other than that I'm taking some holiday time right now (and moving house!); I'll keep posting updates as my future moves take shape. [ 54 more words. ]

The two heads of the Biceps Brachii muscle are involved in flexing the elbow (bringing the hand to the shoulder), supinating the forearm (turning the palm up to the ceiling), and flexing the shoulder (raising the arm in front of the body). Because of its attachments to the scapula, a tight biceps tends to hunch the shoulder forward and in. Here are a couple of quick and easy stretching variations to get a little more length in the upper arm. [ 183 more words. ]

Thanks to Karen Fleming, Trikinetic Massage Therapy, the Vancouver Farmers Markets, Julia Hewko, and everyone who came down, sat in the chair, and helped make this past Sunday a success.

Hastings Park Farmers Market: Good Times on a Sunday! A big thank you to everyone who helped make the Trikinetic booth so successful at the Hastings Park Farmers Market this past Sunday, April 26: Karen Fleming, owner of Trikinetic, for lending me the chair and providing promo materials; the Market organizers, for being so darn organized; the other vendors, for their friendly, welcoming attitude; and of course the folks who climbed in the chair and gave me a chance to work on them. Gluteus Maximus Stretch
Gluteus Maximus Stretch Glute max, largest of the "butt muscles," is a powerful extensor of the hip, attaching to the sacrum and iliac crest at one end, and the femur and IT band at the other. It works hard and can develop trigger points. Its attachments also cross the SI joint, so glute max tension can result in pain or reduced movement at the base of the spine. [ 122 more words. ]

Kneeling TFL Stretch
Kneeling TFL Stretch Here's a stretch for the tensor fascia latae (TFL) muscle. It's a hip flexor that runs from the point of the hip diagonally down to the IT band. Because of its location, it can be difficult to isolate. Stretch on the exhale. When you're stretching, if you feel pain then back off a little. 30 seconds, 3 times each side is ideal, but if you're short on time, then some is better than none. [ 99 more words. ]
