I don’t pre-draw for lip neutralization.

Neutralization isn’t about shape — it’s about colour correction.

Many darker lips actually have a slightly lighter border before the pigment becomes deeper, especially on the upper lip. Overlining too early can create a halo effect once healed.

First we balance the tone.
Then we refine shape if needed.

When your client says she’s leaving work early for a “doctor’s appointment”…

And you’re thinking neutralization is as simple as “just use orange.”

It’s not.

Lip correction depends on value, undertone, depth, and the client’s overall lip composition. In some cases, incorporating a pigment with white in your mixture is necessary to properly balance and lift the tone.

White isn’t the issue — using it without understanding colour theory and how pigments age in the skin is.

I never use it alone. It’s always intentionally blended based on the starting tone and desired healed result.
