2023 .. what a year!!

I launched SKN SCOOP STUDIO in March of this year and it’s been one of my best experiences yet!

In a mere 9 months, I have accomplished so many personal goals for this business and surpassed my expectations for what I thought this first year in business would look like! The focus and determination I’ve developed in working to get my business to where it is today, is personally gratifying!

The amount of genuinely beautiful people I’ve encountered from you all trusting me with your skn + body, and recommending me to your friends and family, as well as, from networking in this amazing industry and beyond, goes beyond what I can count or add value too!

I’ve said thank you many times, but one more won’t hurt, because I am truly grateful for all the support I’ve received thus far from every follower, every like/repost/save, my new and returning clients, clients who are now friends, my family, and my fellow boss babes who have provided me with advice or guidance along the way!

I faced some trying times throughout these 9 months in business, but my support system and determination to make Sx3 something unique and memorable has kept me pushing through it all!

I also want to thank for helping me immensely throughout these 9 months! Late nights, long talks, brainstorming, looking out for each other inside and out of the studio - I never expected to have come across such an amazing boss babe/person (thanks Instagram ads for reaching lil ole me LOL) 🤍

That being said, It has been an honour to walk with you on your skn/body journeys and I am looking forward to helping you exceed your skn goals in 2024🤍

Allow me to [formally] introduce myself!

My name is Mekayla the Esthetician. I am the Owner, Founder, Lead Aesthetician (and everything in between) of SKN SCOOP STUDIO!

I am a licensed medical aesthetician who graduated from Humber College’s Esthetician/Spa Management program, with previous educational background in criminology + biological anthropology from the University of Toronto Mississauga.

I have been in the beauty industry for 6 years with expertise in Nail care/Enhancements, lash extensions, brows, skincare, and medical aesthetics (microneedling, laser hair removal, chemical peels, etc.)

Fun fact about me: before skincare and business, I played rugby and rep soccer, while also being a competitive singer in high school! (Yes, I’ve dabbled in many walks of life lol)

As an Ethnic Aesthetician, my focus in this industry is to provide a safe space, expert knowledge, and luxury experience to all of my clients - with a heightened focus on clients of colour, as the representation of caring, experienced, and accessible coloured treatment providers is significantly low in the Canadian beauty industry.

As your Aesthetician, it is my pleasure and honour to provide you with the quality, care, and precision you desire/need to achieve your skn goals. Regardless of your timeline or budget, I want to help you and walk with you through your skn journey at SKN SCOOP STUDIO🤍

As the weather starts to decrease in temperature, your face and body need some extra tlc to maintain moisture + hydration!

Here are 8 ways you can keep yourself smooth and supple this Fall/Winter season:

1. Reduce extremely hot + excessively long showers

2. Use gentle or sensitive skin body washes, hand soaps, etc.

3. Introduce a humidifier into your space(s)

4. Apply Humectants (thicker moisturizers - hyaluronic acid, glycerin, etc.) to the face + body to add moisture

5. Utilize Emollients (oils) to help soften the skin

6. Use Occlusives to seal in moisture

7. Increase water intake

8. Exfoliate 1-2 times weekly

Dry Brushing is a great form of physical exfoliation for the body that can be safely performed 1-3 times a week!

Some benefits of Dry Brushing includes:

- promoting lymphatic drainage
- boosting energy
