Coming from a lash technician of 9 years... the market and social media is rapidly changing year to year. Here's what I would do if I was starting a lash business in 2026:

1. Build a professional brand. Every beauty business is defined by the PROFESSIONAL brand and the PERSONAL brand.

• Professional brand = your services, technique, retention, results
• Personal brand = your personality, story, content, and presence online

Both together are what build a successful beauty business in the digital era. Clients aren’t just booking lashes anymore. They’re booking the person they relate to, shows their skill through education they display on their page, not just photos of work.

2. Obsess over skill.
Your first course is your entry into the industry, not the finish line. It sets your expertise and grounds to succeed. With that, products change. Chemicals evolve. Styles and trends shift constantly.

The artists who last in this industry are the ones who continue learning, refining, and elevating their craft. This ranges from learning photography to retention to new styles of lashing to enhance all aspects of your business.

3. Prioritize customer service

Once we are fully comfortable with classics, only then do we move into placing volume. Volume fans should be light, needle-thin and never oversaturated with adhesive. This is how we protect the natural lashes and avoid heaviness.

Before there was the studio and our physical academy...there was this.

A journey filled with rental spaces, borrowed rooms, empty bedrooms, long days, and sacrifice. I trained wherever I could, set up wherever I was allowed, and traveled across Canada to grow using every resource I had. Or I quite literally transformed places into a spot 😂 Some of these spots we made work still amazes me. When there's a will there's a way!

The academy location exists because of all the ones before it. Each place gave me the opportunity to keep teaching and move one step closer to where I am today. This wasn’t something that happened overnight.
