Meet Ocean, , fashion designer, gym bro that you might not expect, a really good, genuine person that’s doing things. Really cool things. That he loves, including being asked to participate in NYC Fashion Week. This was my first time meeting and cutting Oceans hair and it was truly a pleasure. So often “young people” don’t get their flowers. Here are your flowers, Ocean. Keep doing what your doing. This is a wild world and it’s all yours for the taking. Kill New York. We’re all rooting for you. Shout out to Oceans folks for helping to create such a lovely person and Happy Nee Year to all!

Meet Kele!
Kele, pronounced like Pele, came to Community Salons from not too far away.
Kele is great, so nice and so smart.
Kele is on tour starting tonight. Vancouver tonight and making their way to Victoria with stops along the way, including Duncan, Gabriola, Nanaimo among others. I really like Kele. There aren’t too many like , I believe, living in reality and caring in real time and on the right side of “WOKE” (the left) Kele cares about you. That you can feel. Kele is also a talent that must heard. Give a follow and a listen and your support. I do.
Here’s a blurb not from me:
Kele Fleming is a deeply gifted singer-songwriter who resides in British Columbia. Kele (pronounced Kelly) gracefully weaves the vulnerability of traditional folk with the raw power of rock and roll. Her voice is a thunderstorm of emotion and grit that generously pours into the souls of her listeners. Her music is packed to the brim with complex musicality, tender lyricism and contagious passion. Kele’s work explores deeply personal themes that she executes flawlessly. Her music is similar to the likes of female powerhouses such as Neko Case, Lucinda Williams and Kate Bush yet her sound is entirely fresh. Kele’s is armed with ferocious lyrics, a mesmerizing voice and a profound aptitude for instrumentation- the combination is rare and refreshing.
Thank you, Kele. It’s such a pleasure.

Today marks four years since I opened Community Salons, although the concept lived in my head for many years it did not come to fruition until after the pandemic began. I’ve had many ups and downs and trials and tweaks and twists and turbulance since I opened. Some wonderful things have happened, such as winning the Eco Star Award for Social Impact to almost every media outlet wanting to talk about what I’m doing as to spread the word and hopefully inspire others to do something Community oriented of their own. There have been loads of tears, stress and days of crippling anxiety for big stretches too. SO much life has happened in the last four years for us all, and by the looks of it there will be a lot more in the next four. I don’t know what the future holds for Community Salons, but I know it’s going to live and thrive and grow as long as we’re willing to take care of it. You can expect some exciting things to come in 2025, including the launch of Community Salons Online Hair Academy. I want to thank each and everyone of you, past and present, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. I love you all. (except some of you I’ve fired for being as****es. You know who you are)

One year ago today, this little angel and even bigger witch came into my life for good. Although we’ve known and noticed and wondered about one another for so many years, we wandered alone and we wandered in the wrong relationships, learning everything bad and everything good about ourselves and our ‘others’. I wasn’t ready for Lucy. I had many battles and a few demons and trial run relationships that likely would have ruined what Lucy and I are today. We are in a healthy and loving relationship. We are supposed to be together. I’ve never believed that before this. I haven’t been perfect, nor has she (she has), but we certainly have grown together in our relationship. I’ve never felt more safe and supported and cared for and confused in why someone might care for and treat me like this. It’s somehow been avoided for the first fifty years of my life. Some days it’s hard to not mourn days lost with such a wonderful woman or wonder why Lucy has taken so long to come into my life, but more so I am so grateful for the time to come. Happy anniversary, Lucy. This has been the abaolute best year of my life. Thank you, Lucy, for everything, your unwavering support of me and Community Salon has not been matched. Thank you, Lucy, for being so kind, to not only me but to my baby and equally to our grand-babies. My life has never been so full. I love you, Lucy. Thank you. ❤️

The people I met are not the ones I was thinking needed me. A HUGE shout out to Project Reconnect for helping me shift my thinking on who’s out there and who might need our help. It’s heartbreaking and inspiring and hopeful. Here is an exert from Vic News. Link in bio.

In the spirit of assisting the homeless, Project Reconnect opened its doors for its one-stop annual fair, offering unhoused folks access to free services, food, resources, and referrals.

Downtown Service Providers and the Alliance to End Homelessness in the Capital Region (AEHCR) hosted this year’s event Wednesday (Oct. 9) at Victoria’s Central Baptist Church.

Silvia Ceacero, CEO of AEHCR, explained that this year’s fair, typically held in August, was moved to a later date to better assess and address the street community’s needs before winter.

Upon entering, attendees received a bag containing winter garments and a hygiene kit. They also had the opportunity to connect with 42 organizations offering a variety of services, including medical care, ID replacement, housing needs assessments, massages, haircuts, and more.

With the looming elections and such discourse as we prepare to vote on something where people’s actual lives are on the line, I feel it’s important that I get out and meet some folks and see for myself what people’s needs are and where I can help. To have an idea of who it is we are debating for no matter what side we are on. If you’ve the ability and capacity and opportunity it might be a good idea to see where you can get a first hand look and to see where it is you may be able to help. For me to have an informed opinion this is the only way. I will be doing some haircuts from 11-3 on Oct. 09. Thank you to Project ReConnect for asking.

Project ReConnect 2024 is shaping up to be a day of shared conversation, learning, fellowship, food, and entertainment!
The Downtown Service Providers (DSP) Committee is bringing back Project Reconnect (formerly known as Project Connect) in October 2024.

The Downtown Service Providers (DSP) Committee will host Project Reconnect on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Central Baptist Church (833 Pandora Ave).

This annual service fair provides community members experiencing homelessness and poverty with access to free services, resources, and referrals.

My Lucy’s Birthday week is coming to a close and I wanted to share how grateful I feel tto have met someone that has shown me what a healthy relationship could look like. For showing me what having someone behind you could look like. To know you’re in my corner makes life that much easier. To know I can make a mistake, learn from i it and move ahead. To fully trust someone with everything and know I am not being judged. To share everything from dreams and fantasies to fun and laughs to tears and some days it’s good to just rot.
I love you, Lucy. What a lucky pair, to have found each other. Happy Birthday, 🍯🐰
