What if we dropped the ‘no pain, no gain’ construct and leaned into cultivating ease and pleasure as a priority instead?
What if we press pause on the urgency, on the endless pursuit of certainty, and put ‘productivity’ on the back burner just for a moment?
This can be a difficult practice when we become so adapted to the non-stop nature of society. It can be challenging to tease apart what’s actually true for us vs what we think should be true for us.
What if we release the concept of perfection, of utopia, of an ideal way of being
And land in what truly is…moment to moment to moment and honour whatever arrives.
Building a life around this practice
Slowly shifting, slowing building, slowly cultivating a new way of relating to ourselves and the world.
As Adrienne Marie Brown says. ‘Small is all.’
allowing for the humble & simple moments to add up to a life scaffolded by ease, pleasure, integrity, appreciation & love.
As you pause and check-in, what would genuinely feel good at this moment?
Maybe it’s drinking a glass of water; perhaps it's taking a few moments to listen to your favourite song, eating some food, lying down and breathing, stretching your body, connecting with nature, crying, screaming, howling at the moon, laughing, sighing, appreciating the sunshine resting on your cheek, lying on the floor with your dog. It’s often simple, and it’s often ‘free’.
How can you invite a little more ease into your day? Not for any reason other than because it feels good.

When we begin to understand the layers of systemic trauma, the cumulative weight of all the different “isms” stacked on top of differing identities, we can understand how this quote informs our collective reality.
The outcome of trauma is the loss of connection; it’s a loss of trust in oneself and the world. When we stop trusting our body's wisdom and ignoring its pleas due to a culture that fills us with twisted morals and values rooted in exploitation, scarcity and shame, we become disoriented. We lose the sense of what and how we are supposed to feel.
The stories we are told from birth are often around shame and unworthiness that our worth needs to be earned or bought, that love and belonging are the rewards of “good” behaviour or meeting specific cultural standards. Due to puritanical ideals and binary value systems, the body's cues of pleasure or desire become tied to shame and fear. We become untrusting of our own experience of reality.
As we move towards healing (in a non-bypassing way) and acknowledging our wounding, systemically and individually, we begin to rebuild trust in our body's innate wisdom. We begin to understand that operating from a place of fear and shame isn’t the inherent human condition but rather an outcome of trauma due to the generations of colonization and imperialism that have shaped humanity.
When we start to rewrite our operating systems- to one rooted in trust, love & abundance, we begin to see new possibilities. We no longer need to resource our worthiness and security through consumerism and individualism due to a deep-seated lack of trust. Space opens up to explore curiosity and creativity, to live a life rooted in reciprocity, pleasure, and joy- not as a reward but as a birthright.
• I hope you find space today to orient towards pleasure, comfort and ease.

I really urge you to read this, especially if you experience chronic pain in any capacity...back pain, neck pain, tendonitis, ect.
It's truly fascinating how our bodies and brains work. "Pain" is simply a stimulus and it's not intrepretted as pain until the brain says so...
Seven Things You Should Know About Pain Science — BETTER MOVEMENT In the previous post I discussed some common back pain myths, such as the ideas that bulging discs, “bad” posture, or lack of core strength are major causes of back pain. As I noted, the evidence just doesn’t support those claims, and this is somewhat surprising and counterintuitive. However, ...

"Maintaining order rather than correcting disorder is the ultimate principle of wisdom. To cure disease after it has appeared is like digging a well when one already feels thirsty, or forging weapons after war has already begun"
☝️This is a quote from one of the oldest medical text books.
Nurturing ourselves holistically is the most valuable form of care. When we align our lives around healing consistently and consciously we prevent the accumulation of a lot toxicity in our body, mind & soul. It's so important to have a practice of tuning in & getting clear about what's going on inside. It's important that we then use that internal inventory as a way to curate our choices around that which nourishes our health and vitality.
Things to focus on that support our overall wellness:
°Good Posture
° Quality Food
° Quality Media
° Movement
° Breath
° Community
° Creativity
And don't forget to go with the flow. Forcing perfection is counterproductive. Flux is part of life✌

Dreaming of the warm sun? Your feet tucked into the sand? Yeah me too. Now I can't promise you I can change the weather, but I can certainly offer you some respite from this deep freeze. A massage is the perfect little mini vacation for your mind and body when you can't hop on a plane to Hawaii. A little boost of feel good hormones, a heated table and some restorative tunes will have you feeling better in no time.
Take care of yourself out there friends. Winter is tough, so make sure you make the time to find some joy.
