Skin doesn’t understand aggressive; skin responds to organic and consistent. Looking back at my pictures from 14 years ago, I analyze my skin care philosophy and treatment approaches to help those who believe in aging gracefully but in accordance with skin and body biology. I’m no stranger to strict skin regimens, regular treatments, and occasional boosts, but I refuse to follow trends that alter who I am while damaging my skin in the process and leaving me with long-lasting consequences. I’ve admired and studied skin biology for about two decades now; one thing is clear: going against your body is pointless, and it will do anything in its power to defend itself. Once it’s in defense mode, it’s never pretty. 14 years ago, my body was different, my skin was different, and the products and treatments I used were different. Now, I welcome this new chapter - menopause, and if basic biological principles still apply: sun protection, hydration, exfoliation, new approaches are needed to maintain healthy skin during this hormonal change.
