Hydration for your fascia 💧 Drinking water and eating hydrating foods are essential. But when it comes to fascia, hydration alone isn’t enough. Fascia being the dense, fibrous web that wraps and connects everything in your body can become sticky, tight, and restricted, especially with stress, overuse, and immobility. Myofascial release works mechanically to restore glide, elasticity, and fluid flow within the fascial system. Think of it as the difference between watering the surface of dry soil versus loosening and turning it to let moisture truly pe*****te. Both essential, but we know what we would choose. Drink your water—but DO the hands-on work your fascia is THIRSTY for.

You’ve probably heard of trigger points, movement-related pain, or chronic mobility issues. But do you know what these symptoms point to? Myofascial dehydration — a state where the fascial tissues can no longer glide smoothly over the muscles. When you feel persistent pain during movement or tenderness when pressing on certain areas, it’s often the result of dehydrated fascia. But fascia’s role goes far beyond just mechanical function. The list of potential issues may be much longer than we once believed. Fascia is bioelectric. It has a direct relationship with your mitochondria. So when it’s dehydrated, it’s not just movement that suffers — its role as a vital communication network in the body is also disrupted.

As of Monday, January 18th
Prescriptions and Referrals will no longer be required to receive a Massage from a Registered Massage Therapist.

Michelle and Nora still have some openings available for next week. Can’t find a time that works for you? Just call the office and speak to your preferred therapist. We will do our very best to find a time that works.

Please note:
If you require a prescription for your benefits to cover your treatment, this will remain in effect (certain policies have this as a stipulation of receiving use of the benefits)

Massage Therapy is now able to go back to work. If you would like to make an appointment with Michelle or Nora, you will need to follow these guidelines as outlined by AHS. Can’t wait to get back to serving our clients!

UPDATE: As per the update provided by the Chief Medical Officer of Health, massage therapists are able to resume immediately providing services under the following guidelines:

1. All clients must have either a written prescription from a Medical Doctor or a written referral from a regulated health professional (https://www.alberta.ca/regulated-health-professions.aspx)
a. An existing written prescription is only valid if issued within the last 12 months.
b. An existing written referral is only valid if issued within the last 12 months.
c. A copy of the original written prescription or written referral is acceptable.
d. The written prescription or written referral must be provided prior to receiving treatment.
