Windsor Clay

Building a birdhouse. I went with a wire armature on the outside of the form, with ribbons holding it in place as much as possible.

There is a question burning in my mind. What kinds of clay am I driving over as I drive around Windsor Essex? I have only found one basic kind so far, but I remember looking at a map of the area that showed where different types of clay have been found.

I am going to go back to that map and learn what I can about Windsor clay and keep track of my findings here. I will make videos and respond to your questions as well as I can, but I will also be asking many questions as I go.

I would like to test our clays in my kiln and see if any of them are good for bakeware or other functional forms. I have made many planters from the clay I found in my back yard, and I am throwing a few beautiful little boxes that I will top with tiny birds that I am also pinching out of the backyard clay.
