My view: peaceful, glowing goddess of a client ✨
Their view: double chin & concentration face 🤣

Go ahead and get under the top sheet and the blanket, I’ll be back in two minutes! 😂 💆‍♀️

* UPDATE!* - We are back in action 😎

Wednesday morning, coffee in hand, positive affirmations in the other, only to show up to our building looking darker than our souls after busy season 💀

And as confident as we are that we could massage you with our eyes closed…blinding you with bright lights at the end of your treatment is our chefs kiss!

Without that dramatic finish, it just doesn’t feel right!

And of course…. for safety reasons, we simply can knot treat anyone today 😢

Fingers crossed the power returns tomorrow and we can get back to doing what we do best!

Thanks for your patience!

✅ A Few Green Flags

Finding a good manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) therapist is key if you have a chronic illness or lymphatic disorder like lymphedema or lipedema.

There’s a ton of different modalities out there (all are likely helpful for SOMEbody) but a sensitive body can thrive with a clinically trained practitioner that has completed one of the following programs:

💦 Vodder Method
💦 Chikly Method
💦 Casley-Smith Method
💦 Foldi Method
💦 Leduc Method

Variations in teachings and the fusion of modalities make this a “loose” list but once you’ve find someone for that 1st session, here are some green flags:

✅ Nose to the ceiling - The major squishy pipes are on the *front* of our body. If the therapist starts you face down, I hope they’re doing some other massage modality first.

⚠️ If not, may be yellow flag.

✅ Begin at the beginning - The collarbones is home base. This is where our lymph fluid empties back into circulation. If the therapist starts there, it creates a vacuum effect that helps fluid move efficiently.

🚩 If not, that’s a red flag.

✅ Pain-free + minimal glide - MLD is about stimulating lymph flow and guiding it beneath the skin, not pushing it with force. Clinical techniques use light, rhythmic skin stretching (not deep pressure) and it doesn’t require excessive oil or lotion.

🚩 If you come away from a session bruised, this is not MLD.

As Dr. Perry (@stopchasingpain) always says “More isn’t better. Better is better.”

It’s Lymphedema (LE) Awareness Month! If you have LE or are at risk after lymph nodes removal, look for a certified lymphatic therapist if possible. Clinically trained is okay too if that’s what’s available.

A certified lymphatic therapist has more training and can likely help with:

❤️‍🩹 Post cancer surgery
✋🏼 Lowering risk of LE
🧦 Fitting for compression
🧴 Skin care
🩹 Wound care
💦 Managing fluid
🗒️ Insurance stuff
💻 Community resources

And so much more!

Live in a remote area? My friends @balancewithbabzyoga and @cancerrehabpt are great virtual resources as well! Give them a follow. 🤩
