She wanted to stay blonde, but gave me the freedom to make a few changes…

We added brighter pieces, brought some depth back in with lowlights, neutralized the overall tone, and finished with a soft new fringe.

The result is a dimensional, creamy blonde with just the right amount of contrast and softness.

A little late posting this one, but my Seattle weekend was way too good not to share. ✈️

I headed to Seattle for a hair color class, but made sure to give myself a full day to explore the city too — because if I’m travelling for education, I’m definitely squeezing in a little adventure while I’m there.

I spent the day wandering through Pike Place Market, watched the famous fish throwing, walked through Gum Wall, hopped on the SkyTrain, explored the waterfront by the big Ferris wheel, and did a food tour that was such a fun way to experience the city.

And then, of course, the reason I went in the first place — more hair education.

A couple days spent learning, watching, asking questions and bringing home new ideas and techniques that I can use behind the chair.

Education and travel are two things I absolutely love, so when I can combine the two… even better.

First time in my chair -
and we had some work to do…

My client hadn’t coloured her hair in years, and as a busy working woman, she needed something that looked beautiful without signing herself up for constant maintenance.

And that matters to me!
I never want to give someone a hair colour that doesn’t fit their actual life.
If you’re a low-maintenance girl, we need to create low-maintenance hair. Period.

We started with a big cut, bringing the length up to make her fine hair look thicker and fuller, while adding soft layers through the sides for movement and body.

Then came the colour. I strategically placed highlights exactly where we needed them to add little pops of brightness and sparkle while still allowing her natural colour to do most of the work.

She only had a small amount of grey, mainly through the top, so instead of colouring everything, I literally picked out individual greys and lowlighted a few of them to softly break them up and blend them into the rest of her hair.

A soft root tap + gloss through the ends finished everything off and gave her that “I’ve just spent some time in the sun” kind of colour. ☀️

It had been a year since I’d seen Jennifer, and it was definitely time for a little reset. ✨

She came in with a lot of hair, a lot of weight, and a shape that just wasn’t doing anything for her anymore.

So we debulked, removed some length and gave her a razor cut with a soft fringe, creating movement around her face while keeping everything light, airy and out of her way.

Jennifer is an incredible potter, and I couldn’t help thinking there was something fitting about this one — she spends so much of her time shaping beautiful things with her hands, and today we got to reshape something for her.

Nothing fussy. Nothing she has to fight with at home.

Just lighter, softer, more modern — and judging by that smile, exactly what she needed. 🤍
