“I was told my lashes were too long for a Korean lash lift…” 👀
When this client messaged me, she had recently paid for a traditional lash lift that didn’t lift her lashes at all.
She regretted spending the money and was left wondering if her lashes were simply too long to get the result she wanted.
So naturally… I told her to come see me. 😂
Because her lashes weren’t the problem.
They were long, thick and extremely downturned — but these are all things we can account for when we understand lash analysis, processing + proper shield selection.
And I think there’s a bigger conversation here for artists.
There’s nothing wrong with having a method that works for you. But if your current technique is limiting the results you can offer, it might be time to expand your knowledge.
Our industry evolves. Techniques evolve. Products evolve. And our education should evolve with them.
Because when a client pays for a service and leaves thinking “lash lifts just don’t work on me,” we haven’t just potentially lost that client — we’ve changed how they view the service altogether.
This is why I’m so passionate about Korean lash lift education. Not because there’s only ONE way to perform a lash lift, but because artists should have the knowledge to customize their approach to the lashes in front of them. 🤎

One thing Korean lash lifts taught me that completely changed the way I process lashes… 👀
You can actually OVERPROCESS with Step 2.
For years, most of us were taught to focus mainly on Step 1 timing — because that’s the “active” step that breaks down the bond. But what I didn’t realize until diving deeper into Korean lash lift techniques is that over-oxidizing with Step 2 can also dry out and stress the lashes.
And honestly… when I mentioned that most Western product lines recommend leaving Step 2 on for the exact same amount of time as Step 1, my Korean educator literally gasped 😭
Because the reality is:
more time ≠ better retention.
Especially with cysteamine systems, leaving Step 2 on too long can contribute to lashes looking:
• dry
• frizzy
• overly stiff
• overcurled
• dehydrated over time
One of the biggest shifts I made in my lash lifts was shortening my Step 2 timing.
Typically with Korean lash lifts + cysteamine systems:
6 minutes is usually the sweet spot for Hydrogen Peroxide based Solutions
8 minutes is typically all you need for Sodium Bromate based solutions
Of course every product line is different, and timing should always be adjusted based on lash health, density, environment, and processing speed — but this was such a huge eye opener for me when I started learning authentic Korean techniques.
Sometimes it’s not Step 1 causing the issue…
it’s Step 2 👀

I used to blame timing.
Then products.
Then myself.
What I didn’t realize was that I was missing key assessment steps that completely change how a lash lift behaves.
Once I studied & perfected the Korean method — and the logic behind shield choice, wrapping, and tension
— my results stopped being a guessing game.
This is exactly what I now teach my students, and it’s why their results improve immediately.
If your pH balancer keeps dripping into the waterline…
👉 this is your sign to change the way you apply it.
💡 My little hack:
I soak paper compensators in Salon Jieun Returning Buffer (pH Balancer) and place them directly on the lashes
Instead of applying the liquid straight on — you’re controlling it from the start.
Why this works so well:
✨more even application
✨no excess product flooding the waterline
✨better control during the process
✨more comfortable for your client
It’s such a small switch… but it changes everything.

If the lashes are laying flat → they’re softened and ready for the next step.
If they’re still bouncing back up toward the ceiling → 🚩 they’re telling you they need more softening.
This is especially important with Korean lash lifts, because we’re working from the root and paying attention to how the lashes are actually responding throughout the service.
Stop guessing if Step 1 is done ❌🙏
