How Dermaplaning Works:

1. Skin Preparation
After cleansing and applying antiseptic, the skin must be completely dry. This allows the blade to glide smoothly and remove only the dead skin cells and peach fuzz.
2. Holding the Tool
The aesthetician uses a sterile, single-use medical blade (scalpel).
It is held at an angle of about 45° to the skin’s surface.
3. Technique
• Gentle, short strokes are made across the skin.
• Movements follow the direction of hair growth to avoid irritation.
• The process usually starts with the cheeks, then moves to the forehead, chin, nose, and upper lip area.
• Each section is treated until the surface feels smooth.
4. What Happens During the Process
• The top layer of dead skin cells is removed.
• Fine vellus hair (“peach fuzz”) is gently scraped away.
