I’m always a little cautious with lightweight sunscreens.
With sensitive skin, something that feels “too light” can sometimes mean irritation… or not enough comfort — especially on my drier areas.
And if I’m being honest, I tend to approach Korean sunscreens carefully.
They’re known for their elegant textures, but fermented ingredients are often part of the formulation — and that hasn’t always worked for my skin.
So I took my time with this one.
After a few weeks of testing, it’s one I’ve been reaching for consistently.
It absorbs quickly, doesn’t leave a white cast on my skin, and feels moisturizing without tipping into oily — which is where a lot of sunscreens lose me.
The finish is soft and radiant… not shiny, not heavy — just healthy, hydrated skin.

✨2025 Empties Series — Toners & Mists
Toners are one of those skincare steps people often debate.
Do you really need them?
For me, they’re less about necessity and more about support.
Just like cleansers, toners are situational in my routine. It depends on my skin’s needs, the type of routine I’m doing, and sometimes even the season. On a retinol night, for example, I’ll often skip toning altogether. In winter, I tend to lean more on hydrating formulas that help support my barrier.
Because my skin is sensitive, blemish-prone, and dehydrated, I gravitate toward toners that either add hydration or provide gentle exfoliation without pushing my skin too far.
This group ended up representing four very different roles in a routine: hydration, exfoliation, blemish support… and one viral experiment.
One standout for me continues to be Pixi Glow Tonic. Glycolic acid is the AHA my skin responds best to, and this formula has proven itself over the years. I use it a few nights a week rather than daily, and I appreciate how versatile it is — I’ve even used it under my arms to help with odor and hyperpigmentation. It’s also one of my go-to travel products because it’s reliable and multifunctional.
The Benton Aloe BHA Toner is another favourite, especially in winter when my skin needs hydration but still benefits from gentle pore support.
The Marcelle Clari-T Toner is a straightforward salicylic acid option that helps keep congestion in check — and it’s always nice when I have the opportunity to support a Canadian brand.
And then there was the hypochlorous acid spray — honestly one of those purchases where the internet convinced me. I had high hopes, but I didn’t notice any meaningful difference in either the frequency or duration of my breakouts.
Interestingly, the only one I wouldn’t repurchase was also the most viral — a reminder that what’s trending doesn’t always translate to results, at least for my skin.
Toners may not be essential, but the right one can be a useful tool depending on what your skin needs that day.
Which step should I tackle next in the 2025 Empties Series?
