To Fellow Lovers of Bodybuilding and Fitness. Its a very sad day for me. When I set out to organise the Zambezi Classic my aim was to help that youngster in some small gym somewhere in southern Africa realise that there is more to bodybuilding than winding up as a bouncer. I wanted the current crop of bodybuilders to tour the region and increase their experience on preparation for international shows. I hoped to show sponsors that we can create value for their brands and they can invest in our industry. I went as far as investing my own resources to lead the way by showing fellow promoters that we need to be personally invested to ensure the success of our shows.

It has been brought to my attention that hosting the Zambezi Classic is ILLEGAL. I ask how? I sent an invitation to the Federation in January 2018. I met with Federation officials on February 2018. This show has not been organised in secret. I wish someone could explain why it is illegal to use your own resources and those of private donors to help the lives of young athletes. Please tell me how and why it is ILLEGAL to give out thousands in prize money to these people who put in hours in the gym and put their bodies through hell to give us a great show? How is it illegal to create a forum for athletes and officials to from 4 African countries to converge and celebrate our sport, network and exchange ideas?

Has any organization bought a bus ticket for you to go and compete? Have you ever received supplements for you to prepare for a show? Has there been a contribution to your diet or even gym fee? So what right do people driving huge cars sitting in fancy offices have to deny young athletes trying to survive? People are elected into office to help the sport and not become an obstacle to its development. I have a simple question what did you have to lose by seeing young people progress? Is a that top prize of k3500 per category so significant that you feel its too much for a young athlete? Our overall prize of USD1000 is a mockery compared to the effort these athletes put in but its all we had. And its better than nothing.

I know that comments may get me in trouble with the powers that be but I challenge anyone to find a lie in what I have written. It pains me that I have to POSTPONE the show over administrative BU****IT. Those kids don't deserve this kind of nonsense. We cannot deny kids opportunities because of protocol or bureaucracy its not fair to the athletes.

History will judge us for this moment. I apologize sincerely to all the athletes and officials. I'm sorry petty bickering got in the way of progress. To our sponsors may this incident NOT serve as a yardstick of our modus operandi. Its just a moment of madness.

Its ironic that the theme of the show was Stronger Together. This is what happens when we are not together. Nobody wins.

Update on the Zambezi Classic. All athletes intending to compete or just watch please get in touch especially if you need help with arranging accommodation and logistics. Prize money for the event stands as follows :

1st k3500. 2nd k2000. 3rd k1000 per class. Due to international participation in the event we felt a car as the overall prize would be difficult to deal with should the winner not be a Zambian national. Duty etc. So it will be k10000
