VIOLATION IN ULANG COUNTY BY THE SSPDF.

This morning at about 8:30am the SSPDF bombarded the SPLA-IO assembly areas in Doma Payam of Ulang county.

The so-called peaceful mission to Nasir has just turned violent. Details will follow later.

On February 25, 2025, the main market in Nasir, a town in Upper Nile State, remained closed following an exchange of gunfire the previous evening. The incident involved artillery fire allegedly directed at the market by elements of the South Sudan People's Defense Forces (SSPDF), intensifying local tensions. This event is part of a series of clashes that began on February 14 between the SSPDF and armed civilians, known as the White Army, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries, and causing many residents to flee the area.

Reflecting on events in 2022, Warrap State experienced significant violence between government forces and civilians. In June 2022, deadly clashes in Rualbet led to approximately 115 fatalities, prompting the deployment of the SSPDF to stabilize the region. Similarly, in Tonj East County, ongoing communal violence resulted in numerous deaths and injuries, with the SSPDF intervening to deter further conflict.

The differing military responses in Upper Nile and Warrap States raise questions about the government's strategic choices. While the recent incident in Nasir involved artillery fire directed at civilian areas, there is no specific information indicating the use of aircraft or gunships in these operations. In contrast, during the 2022 clashes in Warrap State, the SSPDF's response did not prominently feature aerial assaults. These variations in military tactics may stem from strategic considerations, resource availability, or operational directives, rather than being solely attributed to tribal biases.
