Of all the roles life has given me — son, brother, husband, educator , hairstylist, and many others I’ve been lucky enough to experience — the most important one of all is being a father.

Nothing in this world gives me strength like that word. Knowing that every single day I am an example for my children gives meaning to everything: the hard work, the travels, the early mornings, the late nights, the marathons, the preparation, the sacrifices. None of it compares to the feeling of knowing that I am doing my very best to be a good father to my children.

Recently, someone asked me: “What would you say to your 20-year-old self now that you’ve turned 38?”

My answer was simple: enjoy life, because life is beautiful. No matter what experiences you go through, never stop being yourself. Stay true to who you are.
