🛑 Traders of a market for clothing materials located at Tejuosho in Lagos state say they have lost over one billion naira to a fire incident which happened in the market on Tuesday evening.

Their Chiarman Godswill Okoh says about 140 shops have been burnt as the Clothing Material Market was on fire.

The cause of the fire hasn't been made known .
Owners of those businesses say there were no deaths recorded but they are sad because they lost a lot of money involved in their businesses

🛑 Davido and Chioma lose their 3 years old son, Ifeanyi

Ifeanyi died by drowning at Davido's Banana Island home. He was rushed to Evercare Hospital in Lekki where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Davido and Chioma had traveled for a family gathering to Ibadan yesterday and had left Ifeanyi with his minders who can't explain how he entered the pool without being noticed and drowned.

MONALISA STUNS YAOUNDE WITH SOUTH WEST MAP DRESS

Currently with other candidates at the Miss Cameroon 2023 boot camp in Yaounde, Miss South West 2023 Monalisa Jelly Mouketey yesterday stunned fans with a Dress showcasing the beauty of the South West Region. She says:

"I proudly represent the South West Region of Cameroon. On my dress we have the map of the South West Region with its Six Divisions: Manyu ( the largest), Ndian, Kupe Manenguba, Meme, Fako, and Lebialem (the smallest in size). The South West Region of Cameroon is bordered on the west by the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to the east by the Littoral, West and North West regions, and opens to the Atlantic Ocean on the south. Buea is the Capital of the South West Region.

My dress shows the Greatness of the South West Region of Cameroon through its landmarks and natural resources. The 3 animals at the top: The Elephant represents the "Elephant dance of the Bakweri tribe"; The Tiger represents the EKPE Dance from the Manyu division, and The Monkey from Bakossi land.

The Second line shows
■ The prestigious Governor's Palace in Buea originally built as a residence for Jesko von Puttkamer during German colonial times;
■ Mount Cameroon, with native name "Mongo ma Ndemi" ("Mountain of Greatness"). It is the highest point in sub-Saharan western and central Africa and is 4095 meters high
■ The Mbakwa Super Bridge, the most beautiful bridge in Cameroon. A flyover in a beautiful and rich forest.
■ The Lebialem Waterfall: Lebialem Division (the smallest division in the SW Region) got her name from a famous twin Water Fall (The Lebialem water fall) pronounced as (Lebe-alem) which means a hill from which water drops ...
The Ndop fabric on my dress is the traditional fabric in lebialem division.
■ The Korup National Park: 1,260 km² of mostly undisturbed primary forest. It is reputedly one of Africa’s oldest and richest tropical forests in terms of floral and faunal diversity.
■ The Cameroon Reunification Monument found in the town of Buea, constructed on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Reunification of East and West Cameroon. Unveiled on 18 February, 2014.
■ The Twin Lakes of Muanenguba are a pair of crater lakes on Mount Muanenguba located in Bangem, Kupe Muanenguba subdivision in the South West Region of Cameroon.
■ The Hanging bridge of Mamfe, constructed by the Germans.
■ PLANTATIONS: The South West Region has vast plantations: Tea, cocoa, banana, pineapple, coffee, rubber, palm, plantains and many other agricultural produce. Represented on my dress are the Rubber , Banana and Palm Plantations.
■ The Land of Fishermen: The South West Region is also the Land of Fishermen as it opens to the Atlantic Ocean on the south. With beautiful beaches like Seme beach, it is also the home of the tastiest sea foods.
CRAYFISH, FISH, CRABS, SHRIMPS
■ IDENAU: You can see the Idenau Steel Bridge built by Germans. Idenau is home to many plantations and fishing. Thousands of fishermen from Nigeria, Ghana, Mali, Equatorial Guinea and Togo say Idenau is home out of home. Here, they find peace, justice and equal opportunities.
■ DEBUNDSCHA: Debundscha is found at the foot of the Mount Cameroon. Debundscha has an extremely wet climate with about 10,299 millimetres of rainfall falling annually. It is the rainiest place in West Africa and among the 5 raniest places in the world.
■ The Slave Port of Bimbia: This one brings tears to my eyes. Buried deep in the forest near Limbe, this little known slave port became the point of no return for 10 percent of enslaved Africans.
Slaves (our brothers and Sisters) passed through Bimbia before being forced onto boats sailing to Europe and the Americas.
■ SONARA (Société Nationale de Raffinage) the only crude oil refinery in the country. Founded in 1973, the company produces butane, gasoline, jet fuel, kerosene, fuel oil and distillate.

🛑 Prof Enoh Tanjong is no more. He died in the early hours of this morning in Yaounde.
He was one of the founders of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication in the University of Buea.

He was indeed a good lecturer to many renowned Journalists today and will be greatly missed.

🛑Fire broke out this morning at the West Africa Examination Council, WAEC building in Yaba area of Lagos State.

The cause of the fire which started at about 6.50 am is yet to be ascertained.

The fire had broken out in the middle of the high-rise building, and those trapped in the building were seen screaming for help.

🛑 Nigeria’s Central Bank yesterday announced the introduction of a National Domestic Card Scheme which will come into effect on January 16, 2023.

It is aimed at promoting stability, inclusion and growth in the financial and payment system.

The bank also said domesticating the card scheme would further improve data sovereignty, enabling the development of locally relevant products and services and reduces demands on foreign exchange.
