A few of the things that really stuck out for me that I want to share with you:
* The DIY wellness retreat trend -- this was a quote from industry expert Melanie Fish, who said travelers are organizing their own retreats at vacation homes rather than expensive resorts.
*Creating content around the wellness services and activities you can offer and using it to draw search traffic to your website.
*Telling your guests about the wellness services you can offer will add enormous value for them -- this is probably my favorite because I really feel like it doesn't occur to a lot of people. Even though it seems logical, they don't think to write about massage or yoga on their website. Vacation rentals that can offer these services have a huge advantage when it comes to providing value in the experience they offer.

In travel marketing, it's the experience that sells, not the property. The secret to success for small travel brands like independent hotels and vacation rentals is finding and vibing with the kind of people who would be absolutely thrilled to experience your brand.

To reach those guests and get them to book, you have to authentically tell them about the awesome experience they could have at your property. Are you telling a compelling story?

One way to show guests what they can experience at your property is by offering massage, spa, or other wellness services. They help paint the picture your prospective guest is forming in their mind about what a vacation at your property will be like. And let me tell you, being pampered is a pretty picture for a lot of travelers.

If your hotel or vacation rental is not making money on massage, spa, or wellness services, it's not because your guests aren't buying. As of 2018, the global wellness industry was estimated to be worth a staggering $4.2 trillion! According to the Global Wellness Economy Monitor, the industry has been growing nearly twice the rate of the global economy for the past three years.

This is to say: Lots and lots of people, likely the majority of your guests, are spending unbelievable amounts of money on massages, yoga classes, and other types of self-care type things people like to indulge in when they are on vacation.

Yoga teachers: do you have a practice bank 🏦 to pull from when you give classes? Is this a concept that you believe in and use? I know sometimes it can be hard to find the time for your personal yoga practice between classes! But building up your practice bank is the best way to have enough mentally, physically, and spiritually to be able to give yoga to others.
