👏🏻 The body is robust and adaptable. It is capable of performing at very high levels PAIN FREE with significant asymmetries.
Are postures and asymmetries important to pain? YES. Sometimes.
Are postures and asymmetries important to pain? NO. Sometimes.
Are they the only pieces of the puzzle that matter? It’s NEVER that simple. NEVER. I repeat: NEVER.
Pain is always a multifactorial emergent experience based on a myriad of factors that span biological, psychological and social domains. It would do us all a lot of good to stop thinking about it so reductionistically.
People aren’t THAT simple.

🔍Let’s address one of the most common myths in weight training…is it safe for a child to lift?

👉One of the strongest held beliefs is that lifting weights will lead to a growth plate injury. This is a vulnerable area of bone that can be 2-5 times weaker than surrounding tissues. A fracture in this area is a serious injury…However barbell training has NOT been shown to increase risk of growth plate injuries when proper supervision and technique instruction are provided.

👣This means children as young as 6 and 7 can start lifting without fear of sustaining a growth plate fracture and stunting their growth as long as technique is stressed, and proper weights are prescribed and good coaching is used.

🏋🏼♂️It is even safe for young athletes to find their 1 repetition maximum (1RM) without fear of injury (again provided proper technique and supervision). The force an athlete sustains when performing a maximal strength test (such as a 1 RM squat) is actually less than what they would be exposed to on a daily basis in most other sports.

✅So, just as with any age…lifting weights isn’t bad for you unless you’re doing it with bad technique and with improper weights.

In degenerative tendinopathy, interventions influencing injured tendon structure are less critical 📉, as the pathology appears to have limited reversibility. This is because regions of degenerative tendon may be mechanically silent (i.e., unable to transmit and sense tensile load due to fibrillar disorganization) & therefore is unresponsive to load.

The inability to load the tendon cells to provide enough stimulus for adaptation may explain the limited reversibility of degenerative tendons. Therefore directing treatments in the hopes of healing degenerative tendon is futile (i.e., manual therapy, heat, etc.) instead strengthen the 🍩!

P.S. Symptom modification is important (i.e., 'passive' manual therapy), but passive approaches are limited short term benefits and such will not address the motor inhibition, reduced muscular strength and power, and/or tendon loading capacity. TENDONS MUST BE LOADED! 🏋️

Con la aplicación de MEP podemos tratar directamente el foco de la lesión, consiguiendo resultados inmediatos mediante la aplicación de una microcorriente galvánica con una aguja de acupuntura. Esto desencadena una inflamación controlada, una normalización del pH y por ende analgesia.

Un traumatismo con gran energía puede provocar que los ligamentos se distiendan con gran energía mas allá de sus capacidades, esta lesión se debe respetar fases de curación para evitar recaídas.
