The “Heavy Mouth” Muscle

The modiolus is an important connection point at the corner of the mouth where several facial muscles meet and interact.

Many people notice that over time, the corners of the mouth begin to turn downward, marionette lines become more visible, and the lower face starts to look heavier, stricter, or unintentionally sad.

One of the key muscles involved is the depressor anguli oris (DAO).
