Blepharoplasty – Regaining the fresh look

The midface and especially the eyes concentrate the attention of the people we face. The bags under the eyes, the loose excess skin and the ptotic eyebrows show a tired face with a sad look.

Blepharoplasty is a routine surgery that becomes very popular to the male population the last years.
It is indicated to adults of any age since the loose skin of the eyelids and the herniation of the fat pads does not occur only in old population.

The aesthetic reconstruction of blepharochalasis includes the removal of the excess skin and is accompanied by the removal of the herniation of fat. The procedure is always individualized to adjust the needs of the patient and in many cases, it can be combined with other procedures such as brow lift, facelift, fat grafting and other methods of rejuvenation.
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia or sedation and may last 45 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes. The stitches are removed on the 4th postoperative day.

Are the scars visible?
The scar on the upper eyelid is placed in the upper eyelid crease, that is a natural crease and after the healing is completed, the scar is no longer profoundly visible. Concerning the scar of the lower eyelid, it is placed under the eyelashes so that it is not visible after the healing.
Wat is the recovery?
Due to the thin skin and the lose connective tissue at the area, the problems that the patient will experience during the recovery, are swelling and bruising. The recovery usually when it involves upper and lower blepharoplasty is one week to 10 days. There is a possibility of light sensitivity and the patient is advised to wear sunglasses for 2 weeks and dry eyes that is treated with natural tears eye drops for a few days.

As a conclusion, blepharoplasty is a simple but essential procedure that can offer a fresh look to the patient.

Βλεφαροπλαστική - Η επανάκτηση του φρέσκου βλέμματος

Τα μάτια επικεντρώνουν την προσοχή όσων είναι απέναντι μας. Οι σακούλες κάτω από τα μάτια, το ρυτιδωμένο και χαλαρό δέρμα των βλεφάρων και τα πτωτικά φρύδια δείχνουν το πρόσωπο κουρασμένο και με θλιμμένη έκφραση.

Η βλεφαροπλαστική είναι μια επέμβαση που γίνεται πολύ συχνά και κερδίζει ολοένα περισσότερο και τον αντρικό πληθυσμό.
Η επέμβαση αυτή ενδείκνυται σε ενήλικα άτομα οποιασδήποτε ηλικίας γιατί η χαλάρωση του δέρματος των βλεφάρων και η πρόπτωση του λίπους δεν είναι κατ’ ανάγκην ανάλογη της ηλικίας.

Η αισθητική αποκατάσταση της βλεφαροχάλασης περιλαμβάνει την αφαίρεση της περίσσειας του δέρματος και της πρόπτωσης του λίπους. Πάντα εξατομικεύεται στις ανάγκες του ασθενή και πολλές φορές συνδυάζεται με ανόρθωση μετώπου, λίφτινγκ προσώπου, μεταμόσχευση λίπους όπως και με άλλες μεθόδους αναζωογόνησης.
Η επέμβαση γίνεται με τοπική αναισθησία ή μέθη και διαρκεί ανάλογα με την έκταση του προβλήματος, από 45 λεπτά μέχρι 1 ώρα και 30 λεπτά.
Τα ράμματα αφαιρούνται τη 4η ημέρα.

Φαίνονται οι τομές;
Η τομή στο άνω βλέφαρο γίνεται σε μια φυσική πτυχή του δέρματος, την άνω βλεφαρική πτυχή που μετά από λίγες μέρες με την επούλωση δεν είναι ορατη. Στην κάτω βλεφαροπλαστική γίνεται κάτω από τις βλεφαρίδες σε σημείο που με την επούλωση να μη γίνεται εμφανής η τομή.

Ποια είναι η αποθεραπεία
Λόγω του πολύ λεπτού δέρματος στη περιοχή των βλεφάρων, τα προβλήματα που θα αντιμετωπίσει ο ασθενής θα είναι το πρήξιμο και οι μελανιές που απορροφούνται ανάλογα. Συνήθως όταν αφορά και κάτω βλεφαροπλαστική μέχρι τη μια βδομάδα με 10 μέρες υπάρχει πλήρης αποκατάσταση. Πιθανόν να υπάρχει ευαισθησία στο φώς και να χρειαστεί να φορά σκούρα γυαλιά για 2 βδομάδες όπως και ξηρότητα στα μάτια που αντιμετωπίζεται με σταγόνες φυσικών δακρύων για λίγες μέρες.

Συμπερασματικά, η βλεφαροπλαστική είναι μια επέμβαση ουσιαστικής σημασίας στην αισθητική του προσώπου όπου χαρίζει ξεκούραστο βλέμμα.
