Hello my friends,

happy September - we're semi-officially moving into autumn/fall 🍂

I am back from my hiatus and you know what? It was so needed.
Because sometimes we really need to 'fall behind' to 'fall within'.

It's in those moments of stillness and SOUL-I-TUDE that we make room for the soul to speak. And sometimes we think that we find stillness and still we're distracting ourselves. So afraid of listening within.

Last week I returned to Berlin after having spent a week in Kos (on my own!). It was a beautiful week of relaxation but also a lot of shadow work. But I wouldn't miss it for the world.
Every divine lesson that was taught, I shall forever cherish and because you know that I like to share and pass things on, I will be sharing these 'wisdom nuggets' with you over the next couple of weeks.

The last two months have brought a lot of clarity, not just about why we fall into certain patterns and what really triggers us but also what I teach and share.

As of Tuesday, our weekly evening asana will be Yoga with Nina; what does that mean? And how will it change you may ask?
Our lives are all about balance and I want to really incorporate that into my classes again.

NEW CLASS FORMAT
75 mins
Yin & Yang Yoga - the perfect balance between stillness and movement
Pranayama (breathwork) elements
Meditation/Yoga Nidra
This class will remain as PAY WHAT YOU CAN 🤍
The main changes to our evening asana practice is the duration and blending in a bit of more yang movement as well. But don't fret my friends, the yang movement will still be practiced in a very yin and mindful way.

Are you BEING or DOING? 🤷🏻‍♀️
Dear one, how are you doing? And most importantly, how are you feeling?
It has been a while, I needed a bit more time to integrate.
Last night I taught my first class since having moved and since the world seems to be returning to the new normal. Summer has officially arrived in Germany. Bars and restaurants are open.
But how are you juggling moving from this INNIE experience to this OUTIE experience?
In yesterday’s class we’ve reflected on exactly that.
✨How has your priority shifted since then?
✨Have you been depleting your energies?
✨ Have you stretched yourself too thin?
✨ Are you fully booked each night?
✨ Do you feel sightly anxious and overwhelmed with the sudden change?
✨Do you still take lots of time for yourself, to reflect, self-care and other practices?
Those are a couple of the questions that we reflected on throughout the class - feel free to use them as journal prompts or simply reflect on them.
I know for me personally it took some adjusting. At first I was all ‘yay, it’s summer and I have more freedom again’, went swimming every day, met friends for drinks and dinner which resulted in neglecting my evening asana practice because I had a drink for dinner (I don’t practice/teach yoga when I had a drink earlier in the day).
I caught myself being stressed, spending so much time on public transport (which I dislike so much), and felt a little bit out of touch with myself and what’s good for me.
Then last weekend, it was raining. The universe supplying me with the solitude that I subconsciously craved but not consciously seeked.
A weekend at home. Back to my routine. Morning yoga practice. Evening asana practice. Healthy food. Coffee. Walks. And just lots of downtime.
Now, neither one is good or bad. And if you’ve been enjoying summer that’s perfectly fine. Just be conscientious of your soul space time and still allowing yourselves little breaks and resets. 🤍
Have a beautiful day dear one ✨

40 Lessons I learnt in my 30s ✨

1. The relationship you have with yourself is the most important one.
2. You heal others by healing yourself first.
3. Meditate each day to clear your mind, even if it’s only for 5 minutes.
4. Breath work.
5. Yoga asanas and movement on a daily basis.
6. Nourish your body with wholesome food.
7. It’s okay to cancel plans in order to prioritize ‘me’ time.
8. Soul space time.
9. Practice daily gratitude.
10. Speak to yourself like you would to a dear one.
11. Take moments to pause and deep breaths.
12. Yoga Nidra is life.
13. Take naps on your acupressure mat.
14. Get massages.
15. Your physical body will shift and doesn’t define you.
16. You can instantly move into a state of love.
17. The present moment is all you have.
18. No one is responsible for making you happy.
19. You can experience everything into existence.
20. The quantum allows you to rewrite past experiences and create future events.
21. Fall in love with yourself first.
22. Do the shadow work and don’t be afraid of it.
23. Nothing is coincidental.
24. Being vulnerable and soft is strength.
25. The ocean will always cleanse you.
26. Live with an open heart. We can’t think our way into our hearts. We must feel our way back.
27. Your heart, soul, mind and body are a playground not a prison. Explore and play.
28. Fear exists of the unknown. The not knowing makes it fearful. Look fear in the eyes and realize how powerful and strong you are.
29. Healing isn’t linear.
30. You may often disagree with family and friends and that’s okay. Accept their truth without judgement for judgement is a sign of self-judgement and destruction.
31. Neutrality is the essence of being balanced.
32. You can be spiritual without being super spiritual and without using ‘spiritual’ language.
33. Life is a balance. You’re here as a human. So live a human life.
34. Intuition. Always listen to your gut feeling.
35. Integrate all experiences and lessons learnt.
36. Hold everyone in love and compassion even though you may not agree with their views.
37. Morning routines/rituals are Vital before starting your day.

🌎 M e d i t a t i o n D a y 🙏🏼
Long before I started practicing asanas (physical yoga postures), I inhabited a meditation practice.
My practice looks different every day. It really is a practice and a journey. Sometimes you have ups and sometimes downs.
Sometimes I sit and sometimes I lay in my bed. Other times I’m prepping food or have my hands deep in soil.
Sometimes I sit in silence and sometimes I play music. Sometimes I listen to guided meditations and sometimes I talk out loud.
Other times I cry, so much so my heart feels like it’s cracking open. Other times I feel this connection to all there is.
Not one day is the same, just like our lives. Sometimes I show up and don’t like what I find within. And other times it’s hard to be the objective observer and label every single thought.
But what is consistent is the showing up part. Of making a conscious decision to show up, to heal, to look within no matter what I find inside.
Meditation has taught me that I can always press the reset button. That it gives my thinking mind a break. That I can always return to my center, to my heart.
That we create magic for every single being when we’re in meditation by raising vibration.
Think of it this way, when you meditate in your own, all neighbors surrounding you are benefiting from your practice as you raise the frequency.

Don’t meditate to fix yourself, to heal yourself, to improve yourself, to redeem yourself; rather, do it as an act of love, of deep warm friendship to yourself. In this way there is no longer any need for the subtle aggression of self-improvement, for the endless guilt of not doing enough. It offers the possibility of an end to the ceaseless round of trying so hard that wraps so many people’s lives in a knot. Instead there is now meditation as an act of love. How endlessly delightful and encouraging.

When our hearts are wounded, that’s when they open; we grow through pain. 💚
Realizing that pain often is a portal to the divine and offer a chance to open and forgive.

You need to tender, gentle and constant encouragement to strengthen your resolve in keeping your heart open, especially when your finely tuned instincts to protect are activated.
This is the journey of returning home to yourself, to return to all of the magic that resides within you 🤍

Are you SHOULDING yourself? ⚠️
I remember years ago one of my very wise teachers said in class ‘Stop shoulding all over yourself!’
At first I was like what has she just said but then listened more closely and was like ‘omg yes! I should all over myself!’
What’s expected of me by others.
What I expect from myself.
Not listening to natural rest cycles or ignoring the cycles of nature.
Continuously striving for more, thinking I need to keep up the pace to prove something to... yeah, to who?!

Whatever the specific "shoulds" on your list, they always add up to the same "should": You should be better! The "should" police are here to tell you that--as you are--you are not good enough.

What are we afraid will happen if we stop "shoulding" all over ourselves? We have been taught, mistakenly, that if we don't "should" ourselves into action, we will become like those giant sloths that hang on trees—inert. And worse, if we don't "should" ourselves into being good, we won't be good!
You are good enough as you are!
You don’t need to should yourself to death.
Question: how are you shoulding yourself?

Dear one, after transformation must come integration ✨
Integration follows each transformation but not always do we tend to the integration process. Instead, we strive to learn more, take more courses, or strive for perfection.
But dear one, for every lesson you learn, integration must follow.
Do you remember being in school and studying just for the sake of passing a test. Studying so you remember things by heart?
I studied social work and psychology and had to remember hundreds of definitions. Yes I can learn them to recite them by heart but will also forget it within two weeks but when I really understood what I was studying, it stuck forever (at least until now 🤣)
The download I had the other day was similar to the study process. If we just keep learning new things in theory but don’t understand them or experience them in practice, eventually we will forget everything.
But if you create the sacred space to integrate, all lessons will be with you for a lifetime (and many more) 🤍✨
Yay or nay? What do you think?

M a y ‘ s F o c u s:
Tend to your heart 🤍
May is not only my solar month (birthday month) but also my best friend’s Happy bEARTHday
So this month is all about tending to our hearts. Listening to our hearts and opening our hearts. Exploring pain that has lead us to close our hearts and also using the pain as a portal to the divine.

We can’t think our way back to our hearts, we have to feel our way there.
I will be holding space for you in our weekly classes for you to feel, all in a protective and safe space ✨
