The main reason of being unhealthy is…

That you’re UNHAPPY ☹️
You feel alone, unfulfilled, desperate for a moment of… satisfaction even if that “repetitive moment” will kill you slowly but surely!
We all know that:
If that ice cream 🍦 , cigarette 🚬, 🍕, 🍺… is the only thing that makes me feel happy, that I belong to the crowed I like, to have a “momentary” excitement… then “BE IT!”
That’s what most people are coming from… unhappiness not laziness or literacy of what to do!

🏷 ABCD new food label?
What the heck is that?
It’s a French way to say how “sh*tty” the food you’re buying is!
It’s not about nutrients this time (keep reading to know the warning ⛔️); instead it tells you how much processed the food is; in other words: How far the ingredients from their natural state are; which means how bad it is for you!
It’s very clear now, scientifically & by others logical methodologies) that processed foods are directly linked to the top killing diseases for humans!
Cancers, cardiovascular diseases, Alzheimer’s, arthritis, diabetes… you name it!

📝 Nutri_score system is actually not new, the French government implemented this food ranking system in 2017, however too many countries and of course big food companies are “resisting” to accept putting this on the front of their food packages!
Imagine That on your favorite food package it’s written D IN RED! Which means very very processed ⛔️ ?
Like on ci******es 🚬 putting a picture of horrible health consequences to scare people a little!

Would that scare & stop you from buying it?!
My husband said NO, he’d buy it anyways if it tastes good 🤦🏻‍♀️
What about you?

⚠️ however, even though the system is great for telling how processed and sh*tty the food is, it still DOES NOT tell you how good for you that is!!

The best foods are…
The foods that has NO LABELS on them… coming from mama earth 🥗
So be wise and educate yourself.

Clean PROTEIN 💪🏼

Vegan sources of complete amino acids/“protein” are considered a better option to build muscles, increase energy and build a healthier body in general.
Why is that?
🔬 because, as scientific evidence confirm, vegan protein is packed with fiber, essential phytochemicals that work as anti-diseases, vitamins & much more unlike the animal sources that lack most of them.

📝 Also it’s proven that animal protein and the saturated fats that come with it increase the risk of cancers, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes… etc.
🌎 plus, vegan proteins are better for the environment 🐮

So, if you still don’t want to give up animal protein completely, at least reduce the amount of ingestion.

Don’t make it complicated!

All the labels, the fights between experts, the contradiction of health scientific evidence , the confusing loud media… etc.
All that, Simply, makes it very complicated!
They Make it difficult for the average person to know exactly what’s healthy and what’s damn not!

What to eat, when, how much, in what combinations …
The simple questions aren’t simple anymore!!
Millions of dollars are spent on studies to get some answers! Really!

🥕 For god sake, they spend thousands of dollars to prove, scientifically, that carrots are really healthy and good for the eyes!!
💡 And that you have to look out of the window to real natural light!
🏃🏼 That you need to spend time moving not sitting!!!
Nothing that use to be logical is logical or clear anymore!

So, what’s the simplest way to know what’s healthy?

🧘 Close your eyes, breathe deeply and slowly then think…
What did our ancestors really do?
What did they could find or afford eating?
When did they use to eat?
How much food?
How much did they move?
Did they live with light on and screens all days and nights?
???
Just ask simple questions far from the fu**ed up reality we’re living, and you’ll find out the simplest answer to how to be healthy!

That’s if you really really want to do so and this modern interesting unhealthy life doesn’t interest you 😜

He said:”I’m gluten free vegan”.
I said:”and what does that actually mean?!”

You can be gluten free, vegan, blah blah… but you’re eating “sh*tty foods”!!!!

Many people are very confused about some basic concepts!
Health is NOT a label 🏷
“labeled diet” without understanding basic concepts about “healthy foods” could be dangerous!
Vegan, raw vegan, vegetarian, paleo, keto… etc. They don’t mean anything if you’re not doing it right! Period!

To be healthy is NOT to follow a diet, but to know exactly why, how, what, when… you should do it to get the health benefits.

Diabetes

Diabetes (type 1) complications killed my little sister at a very young age (27)!
She was diagnosed when she was 2 years old!
And diabetes type 2 complications killed my older brother at 48 of age!
🔬 Diabetes was the reason that I was interested in human biology, disease mechanisms and how health happen at the age of 10 until this moment!

🍰 Diabetes (type 2 & 3) is a chronic, metabolic disease that affects adults (20~80 years of age)

It’s characterized by elevated levels of blood glucose (or blood sugar), which leads over time to serious damage to the heart, blood vessels, vision, kidneys and nerves.

📈 Based on governmental statistics, “537 million adults (20-79 years) are living with diabetes = 1 in 10
And those numbers will be almost doubled by 2045!!!!

It’s very important to know that diabetes (type 2&3) is:
- 🕟 Chronic, which means that it’s developing, progressing & persisting for a long period of time (many many years!)
- & 🏋️ Metabolic, which means how your body processes or “metabolizes” the chemicals from your foods and drinks that are ingested!

* Type 1 is a bit of a different story that will be told in a different post 🏤

Why this’s important to know?!

Because that’s the solution to the problem! YOU can decide to have type 2&3 diabetes or to prevent them JUST by choosing what to:
🥘 Eat
🍹 Drink
🛌 When & how long you sleep.
🏋️ How much you move & exercise
🧘 How successfully you manage your stress
… etc.
Basically you create it or prevent it by choosing how to live your life!

So be wise, be healthy (if you choose to)
And always ask your healthcare provider 👍🏼

Our choices in life, whatever they are, determine how much joy or suffering we would face!
If you wish to live a 100 years healthy, active and independent, then definitely your choices would differ from someone like me who doesn’t like to live very long!
what to eat, how much you should exercise, how you manage your stress, your social life, your mindset & inner communication… etc. all shoul support your goals whatever they are,
So don’t take that lightly!
If you choose to smoke, you’d know already that you’re cutting your chances of a healthy life by 60% and 40% chance of all cause mortality!
Foods you consume have Even bigger impact.
Stress, it’s the creepy silent killer…
So…
Decide how you’d like your life to end, live your life accordingly to support that goal.

Is alcohol okay to drink, even in moderation?

The short answer is NO
But the long answer is…
Wait… it’s also NO!

Alcohol is TOXIC to the human body! The liver suffer to convert it to a fuel source.
🍺 Drinking alcohol might be fun to do with your friends of family when going out or watching your favorite football team rocking on, but you have to understand that it will, even a little bit here and there, definitely cause some damage to your brain and body and was linked to all cause mortality.
⬆️ So the more you do it, the more the damage is! 💥
The scientific evidence are very clear about that, no way around it, sorry folks!
* Some lucky people would have some DNA variations that’d allow them to metabolize alcohol better, so they can drink a bit more with less damage (damn it luck!!!) but the bottom line is that even those would eventually pay the price!

I’m not saying you shouldn’t ever drink, I do sometimes myself, but at least save that to a very special occasion.
And do some stuff to negate its toxic effect on the body.

Many scientific evidence suggests that the humble spice, ginger, contains diverse bioactive compounds, such as gingerols, shogaols, and paradols, and possesses multiple bioactivities, such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties.

Ginger could contribute to the management and prevention of several diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus, obesity, bone less and other related symptoms of menopausal women, neurodegenerative diseases, nausea, emesis, and respiratory disorders.

🏋️ The most relevant info about ginger to Athletes is that ginger works as a natural analgesic (pain killer) and ergogenic.
💡Meaning that it enhances physical performance, speed up recovery & reduces the inflammatory response that are generated from cardiorespiratory exercise

⚖️ the evidence indicates that around 2 g/day of ginger taken for a minimum of 5 days would do the charm.
So don’t go crazy ingesting more than should, treat it like a medicinal compound not like candy 😜 (I personally make about 2 cups of tea a day (and stop some days in between) out of middle-finger sized fresh ginger 👍🏼🎾💪🏼
