What if eating well had less to do with rules… and more to do with keeping food simple? 🌲

That’s pretty much the idea behind the Nordic Diet.

Think berries, oats and rye, root vegetables, fish, nuts, seeds and plenty of seasonal produce — while highly processed foods and added sugars take more of a back seat.

And perhaps our favorite part: there’s no complicated meal plan, calorie counting or list of foods you’re suddenly forbidden to look at. 😉

It’s simply a way of eating built around real, nutrient-rich foods and making them part of everyday life.

So what does a day of eating the Nordic way actually look like? And why has this approach attracted so much attention from nutrition researchers?

We went properly Nordic on the topic in our latest blog — including the principles, foods to eat and a simple meal plan to get you started.

Lingonberries are basically the Nordic forest's answer to “leave me alone, I've got this.” 🍒🌲

Unlike cultivated berries, wild lingonberries grow without being planted, fertilized or carefully looked after. They make their home naturally in northern forests, surviving cold winters, short growing seasons and plenty of less-than-perfect weather.

And they're surprisingly impressive little berries: naturally rich in polyphenols, including anthocyanins and other plant compounds, with that unmistakably tart, slightly bitter flavor that tells you immediately you're eating the real thing.

We simply freeze-dry the whole wild berries — no added sugar, no preservatives, nothing else — so you can keep Nordic berry season in the cupboard all year round.

Add them to oatmeal, granola or yogurt, or snack on a few straight from the bag if you appreciate a berry with a bit of attitude. 😉

A little nutritional yeast lesson for your lunch. 👩‍🏫🌱

Not all nutritional yeast gets its nutrients the same way.

Many nutritional yeasts are fortified, meaning synthetic vitamins — especially B vitamins — are added after production. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, but it's worth knowing what you're buying.

Our Organic Nutritional Yeast is non-fortified. Nothing is added to artificially boost its nutritional profile — the nutrients you get are the ones naturally present in the yeast itself.

And then there's the reason most of us keep reaching for it: that naturally cheesy, nutty, umami flavor. Sprinkle it over soup, pasta, roasted vegetables, popcorn or basically anything that needs a little something.

Nutrition lesson over. You may now eat the soup.

Here's one nutrition tip that's surprisingly easy to remember: eat the dark berries. 🫐🖤

That deep blue, purple or almost-black color isn't just there to look pretty in your smoothie. It comes largely from anthocyanins — natural plant pigments belonging to the polyphenol family.

Wild blueberries are particularly known for them, and blackcurrants bring their own impressive mix of polyphenols along with naturally occurring vitamin C.

So when your breakfast turns suspiciously purple after adding a spoonful of berry powder? That's not a kitchen accident.

That's the berries doing exactly what berries do.

When someone says it tastes just like raspberries, we take that as a very good sign. 🍓

Mostly because… that's exactly what it is.

LOOV Organic Raspberry Powder is made from freeze-dried raspberries and nothing else. No added sugar, no flavorings, no shortcuts trying to make raspberries taste more raspberry-y.

And we love Kentishmaid's approach: porridge today, smoothie tomorrow, waffles on Sunday. A bag of berry powder can go surprisingly far when you stop giving it just one job.

Real raspberries, minus the very short raspberry season. We'll happily take that.

Fiber has a reputation for being… well, not very exciting. We think cranberries can fix that. 🍒

Dietary fiber is one of those everyday essentials your body genuinely needs — it supports normal digestion, helps keep things moving, and gives the good bacteria in your gut something to feast on.

Our Organic Wild Cranberry Fiber Powder is a very simple way to add more of it to your day. One ingredient: organic wild cranberries. No isolated fiber, fillers, added sugar, or other unnecessary extras.

Spoon it into oatmeal, yogurt, smoothies or baking and carry on with your day.

Because getting more fiber shouldn't require an entirely new morning routine.

Children don't need "perfect" nutrition. They just need real food. 💚

The first years of life are when eating habits are formed, and they're surprisingly sticky. A child who grows up enjoying berries, vegetables, whole grains, and simple homemade meals is much more likely to carry those habits into adulthood.

That doesn't mean every meal has to be perfect (because... life 🍦). It simply means that most of the time, it's worth choosing foods that actually nourish growing bodies.

Real berries instead of artificial flavors. Whole ingredients instead of long ingredient lists. Food that looks like food.

The little choices we make today often become tomorrow's normal. And that's one of the greatest gifts we can give our children.

Not all flaxseed is created equal. 🌾

Here's something many people don't know: where flaxseed is grown has a real impact on its nutritional value.

In northern countries like Finland, flax grows through long summer days and cooler temperatures. These conditions encourage the plant to produce higher levels of the compounds it's famous for — particularly omega-3 fatty acids and lignans.

Then comes the second important step: how it's milled. Cold-milling helps protect these delicate fats from unnecessary heat, preserving both freshness and nutritional quality.

It's a good reminder that with whole foods, origin isn't just a nice story on the label. It genuinely matters.

Vitamin C is vitamin C... right? 🍊

Well... not quite.

When most people think of vitamin C, they picture a little white tablet. But vitamin C found naturally in whole foods comes with something synthetic versions simply can't offer: the company it keeps.

In berries and other fruits, vitamin C is naturally paired with polyphenols, flavonoids and other plant compounds that work together in ways nature intended. It's one of the reasons why whole foods are still considered the gold standard when it comes to nutrition.

So next time you're choosing a vitamin C supplement, it might be worth asking not just how much vitamin C it contains... but where it came from.

Curious why that matters? We've broken it all down in our latest blog.
