Maxillofacial surgery Mokatam Insurance Hospital Team

A 47-year-old male was referred to Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department, Al Mokatam hospital . The patient presented with a large painless swelling on the left cheek region. serious discomfort during chewing and talking. The medical and family history was non-contributory to the chief complaint. The swelling was not associated with paresthesia, ulceration or discharge. The extraoral examination revealed a solitary non-fluctuating swelling in the left side of the mandible extending from the corner of the mouth to the angle of the mandible.
The patient also had a small papillary swelling which was excised and biopsied at the same operation. Pathological report diagnosed it as squamous cell papilloma

A 15-year-old girl presented with right maxillary swelling of about 2 months duration. It was a slow growing swelling, without any other symptoms. On clinical examination, the right cheek was grossly deformed with normal overlying skin, and there was no neurological deficit over the affected area.

The radiographs showed a well-defined, unilocular radiolucency in maxilla with expansion and thinning of all its bony walls. It also showed impacted canine and root resorption of first and second premolars.

The enucleation of the cyst was done under general anaesthesia along with the removal of the impacted canine. It contained Cholesterol crystals.
