Dr. Ragaa Magdy Ismail represents a distinguished model of a young academic who has successfully combined scientific excellence, human impact, and an entrepreneurial mindset. She is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Canadian University of Ahram, the General Supervisor of Student Activities, the General Leader of the Student Union, and the Director of the Sustainability Office, in addition to being the founder of RUJA, a natural cosmetics company.
Dr. Ragaa began her academic journey after graduating from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Canadian University of Ahram in 2013, ranking fourth in her class. From an early stage, she demonstrated strong commitment, ambition, and dedication, which qualified her to join the university’s academic staff and begin her career in teaching and scientific research.
She views her academic role as both an educational and developmental responsibility. Alongside delivering scientific knowledge, she focuses on supporting students psychologically and professionally, helping them discover their abilities and build self-confidence. She firmly believes that the true impact of a university professor goes beyond lecture halls to shaping students’ personalities, leadership skills, and readiness for professional life.
In the field of student activities, Dr. Ragaa has played a pivotal role in transforming extracurricular engagement into a structured learning experience that complements academic education. As the General Supervisor of Student Activities and the General Leader of the Student Union, she works closely with students to encourage initiative, responsibility, and teamwork, creating an environment where students can translate ideas into real impact.
Under her supervision, the Enactus Canadian University of Ahram team achieved remarkable success, including an environmental project that recycled construction waste into high-quality cement bricks at lower costs. The project created hundreds of job opportunities, increased workers’ income, and positively impacted thousands of beneficiaries both directly and indirectly, while also achieving advanced rankings at the national level.
Alongside her academic and student leadership roles, Dr. Ragaa pursued entrepreneurship by founding RUJA, a natural cosmetics company. Despite facing significant challenges, particularly in marketing, she chose to further develop her skills by studying marketing, which enabled her to restructure the business and ensure its sustainability. This experience reflects her firm belief that learning is a continuous journey that does not end with obtaining a degree or holding a position.
As the Director of the Sustainability Office, Dr. Ragaa actively contributes to embedding sustainability concepts within academic and student-led initiatives. Her work focuses on promoting environmental awareness, social responsibility, and sustainable innovation, aligning university activities with global sustainability goals.
Dr. Ragaa has also participated in several international initiatives and organizations, including the United Nations, Mercy Corps, and the World Food Forum, where she worked on issues related to green innovation, sustainability, gender equality, and healthcare. These global experiences broadened her perspective and strengthened her ability to connect local initiatives with global contexts.
She emphasizes that her family has been her primary source of support and inspiration, especially her father, who instilled in her the values of giving and serving others. She also considers Dr. Magdi Yacoub a major role model, representing selfless dedication to science and humanitarian service.
Her selection among the 100 Most Inspiring Young Faces from the Nation marked a significant milestone in her diverse journey. She views this recognition not as an endpoint, but as a responsibility and motivation to continue creating positive, meaningful impact.
Dr. Ragaa consistently delivers a message to university students, encouraging them not to limit themselves to academic studies alone, but to actively engage in student activities, volunteer initiatives, and practical projects. She believes these experiences are essential in building leadership capabilities, teamwork skills, and real-world competencies that contribute to long-term professional success.
