Red Sea Governor Opens Utility Networks Information Center Branch in Safaga

Dr. Walid Abdelazim El-Barqi, Governor of the Red Sea, inaugurated the Safaga branch of the Utility Networks Information Center, in the presence of the Governorate Secretary-General, Head of Safaga City, Head of the Utility Networks Information Center, and the Governor’s Office Director.

The new branch is fully equipped with the necessary staff, surveying devices, and technical equipment to detect and map utility networks, helping accelerate fieldwork and improve the accuracy of technical data required for infrastructure and development projects in Safaga.

The branch, located on the second floor of the Safaga Local Unit headquarters, also includes a citizen service window at the Technological Center, allowing residents and relevant authorities to access the center’s services locally without traveling to the main office in Hurghada.

Governor El-Barqi directed the deployment of specialized technical and field teams in Safaga to ensure rapid response to work sites and support executive agencies in handling projects requiring technical and field intervention.

He emphasized that establishing a local branch will enhance coordination among relevant authorities, provide accurate utility network data, and help reduce the time required to complete projects and technical procedures.

During his tour of Safaga, Governor El-Barqi also inspected tree-planting activities in the Eastern Housing area and along the main road. He participated in the initiative by planting a tree himself, stressing the importance of continuing landscaping efforts, maintaining green spaces, and improving the city’s overall appearance.

Red Sea Governor and Sports Minister Visit Halayeb Youth Development Center to Support Local Talents

Dr. Walid Abdelazim El-Barqi, Governor of the Red Sea, and Goher Nabil, Minister of Youth and Sports, visited the Halayeb Youth Development Center during their field tour of Halayeb, Shalateen, and Abu Ramad to review the activities and programs provided to children and young people in the area.

The officials reviewed a number of sports and youth activities and discussed the center’s programs and services, with a focus on creating opportunities to discover talents and develop the skills of young people in border communities.

El-Barqi stressed the importance of youth centers in border areas as key community facilities, directing the relevant authorities to promptly address the center’s needs and ensure the continuity and quality of its activities.

Goher Nabil reaffirmed the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ commitment to supporting young people in border areas by expanding sports and youth programs, discovering talents, and providing opportunities for youth to develop their abilities and contribute positively to their communities.

Red Sea Governor and Sports Minister Discuss Halayeb Residents’ Needs with Tribal Leaders and MPs

Dr. Walid Abdelazim El-Barqi, Governor of the Red Sea, and Goher Nabil, Minister of Youth and Sports, held an expanded meeting with tribal and family leaders and members of the House of Representatives and Senate in Halayeb, following Friday prayers at Al-Hamid Al-Majeed Mosque.

The meeting focused on residents’ needs and proposals to improve local services, including expanding Al-Azhar education institutes, constructing a new youth center, and providing Bedouin housing units and land plots.

El-Barqi directed the relevant authorities to expedite the submission of land legalization applications through the designated platform, review the regulations governing the distribution of Bedouin housing units, and conduct an assessment of the required housing units and land plots.

Goher Nabil reaffirmed the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ commitment to maintaining direct communication with residents of border areas and expanding sports and youth programs that develop young people’s skills and support their positive participation in community development.

Dr. Walid Abdelazim El-Barqi, Governor of the Red Sea, and Goher Nabil, Minister of Youth and Sports, inaugurated the development works at Abu Ramad Youth Center during their field tour of Shalateen, Abu Ramad, and Halayeb.

The officials reviewed the center’s sports and youth activities and discussed ways to enhance its role in supporting children and young people, developing their talents, and providing better services to residents of the border area.

During an open meeting with local residents, several requests were raised concerning food supply services, education, school capacity, youth land allocations, and associations. El-Barqi directed the relevant authorities to inspect bread quality and weight, identify the requested land plots, and expedite the submission of legalization applications through the national platform.

El-Barqi stressed that youth centers in border areas are key community facilities that provide opportunities for sports, talent development, and youth engagement, emphasizing that their development remains a priority for the Governorate.

Goher Nabil highlighted the Ministry’s continued support for youth centers in border governorates and its efforts to expand sports and youth programs and provide young people with opportunities to develop their skills and participate positively in their communities.

Red Sea Governor Meets Shalateen Residents to Review Local Needs; Camel Race Announced for December

Dr. Walid Abdelazim El-Barqi, Governor of the Red Sea, and Goher Nabil, Minister of Youth and Sports, met with tribal leaders and residents of Shalateen to listen to their needs and discuss ways to improve local services.

Residents raised several issues, including water and electricity services, camel racing, traffic services, a public beach, a social club, Bedouin housing, medical incentives, and sports facilities.

El-Barqi directed the relevant authorities to study the requests and coordinate on possible solutions within available resources, stressing the importance of maintaining direct communication with residents and turning feasible requests into practical measures.

In response to a request raised during the meeting, Goher Nabil announced that a camel racing event will be held in Shalateen next December, as part of efforts to support sports and traditional activities in the southern cities.

The visit also included a cultural performance by children from the area. El-Barqi and Nabil emphasized continued support for youth and the development of services and activities in the border communities.

Red Sea Governor Delivers 5 Housing Contracts in Shalateen, Directs Monthly Delivery of 100 Bedouin Housing Units

Dr. Walid Abdelazim El-Barqi, Governor of the Red Sea, handed over five housing contracts to eligible residents in Shalateen, reaffirming the Governorate’s efforts to complete ownership procedures and deliver housing units to beneficiaries.

The Governor directed that 100 Bedouin housing units be delivered monthly, with procedures accelerated to ensure timely handover to eligible citizens.

El-Barqi also inspected the 1,500-unit housing project in Shalateen, reviewing construction progress and infrastructure works, including water, sewage, electricity, and internal roads. He ordered the prompt completion of remaining works and rectification of any noted deficiencies to prepare the units for handover.

The Governor stressed that the housing projects aim to provide suitable, fully serviced homes for residents of the southern cities, while supporting urban and social stability and ensuring quality and timely completion.

Irrigation Minister and Red Sea Deputy Governor Inspect Flood Protection Works in Marsa Alam

Dr. Hani Sewilam, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, and Magda Hanna, Deputy Governor of the Red Sea, inspected flood protection works in Marsa Alam to assess construction progress and the readiness of facilities to receive and manage rainwater and flash floods.

The tour included several sites in Wadi El-Gemal, including the valley outlet and Basin B1, as well as the outlets of Wadi El-Sukari and Wadi Umm Khariga and Basin B7. The projects aim to protect surrounding communities and infrastructure from flash floods while maximizing the use of harvested rainwater.

The second and third phases of the Wadi El-Gemal protection project include 11 structures on secondary valleys, with an estimated cost of EGP 270 million and a total capacity of around 11 million cubic meters of rainwater. The works are scheduled for completion by January 2027.

Minister Sewilam directed continued field monitoring, completion of maintenance and cleaning works before the rainy season, and ensuring the readiness of flood protection facilities and retention basins.

The officials also discussed residents’ requests regarding old wells and stored rainwater. Sewilam ordered a technical assessment of the wells, including water salinity testing and the possibility of operating them using solar energy.

Magda Hanna stressed the importance of coordinating with the Ministry to develop practical solutions for benefiting from harvested rainwater and groundwater while preserving the environmental character of the area.

Minister of Irrigation and Red Sea Deputy Governor Inspect Flood Protection System in El Quseir to Safeguard Investments and Support Urban Expansion

Prof. Dr. Hani Sewilam, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, and Magda Hanna, Deputy Governor of the Red Sea, conducted a field inspection of the flood protection system in El Quseir to assess the readiness of existing facilities and ongoing protection projects.

The tour included Wadi El-Qweih and Wadi El-Ambagi, where they inspected collection lakes, flood barriers, an artificial channel, and the Irish crossing, which contribute to collecting and managing rainwater and flash floods, protecting vital infrastructure, investments, development projects, and major roads.

Minister Sewilam stressed the importance of regular maintenance and continuous field inspections to ensure the efficiency and readiness of flood protection facilities. He also directed the updating of the facilities’ databases to support future development and urban expansion plans.

Magda Hanna highlighted the Red Sea Governorate’s continued coordination with the Ministry to strengthen flood protection measures and safeguard citizens, investments, and development projects, in line with the directives of Red Sea Governor Dr. Walid Abdelazim El-Barqi.

The inspection is part of ongoing efforts to ensure the readiness of flood protection systems across the Red Sea Governorate and support sustainable development and urban expansion in El Quseir.

Red Sea Governor Inspects Medical Departments at Shalateen Central Hospital and Directs Support for Medical Specialties and Medical Convoys

Dr. Walid Abdelazim El-Barqi, Governor of the Red Sea, inspected Shalateen Central Hospital to review the level of medical services and the readiness of its departments and equipment. The tour included the reception and emergency departments, intensive care unit, outpatient clinics, dialysis unit, laboratories, radiology department, and operating rooms. The hospital’s construction and development works cost approximately EGP 122 million. It has around 40 beds, a dialysis unit, an intensive care unit, a neonatal and newborn care unit, radiology and laboratory services, a blood bank, and outpatient clinics providing a range of essential medical specialties.

The Red Sea Governor directed continued follow-up on the availability of medicines, medical supplies, and other requirements, while supporting the hospital with the medical specialties it needs and expanding the use of specialized medical convoys. This is carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Population, the Red Sea Health Directorate, and medical schools, including Al-Azhar University and South Valley University. He also emphasized the importance of continued field monitoring of the hospital’s needs and addressing any obstacles to ensure regular and high-quality medical services for residents of Shalateen and the southern cities.
