What I've learnt from working with so many clients
After more than 15 years as a massage therapist, one thing stands out above everything else... no two people are the same.
Two clients can come in with the same area of discomfort, but the cause, how it feels, and the treatment they need can be completely different. That's why listening is just as important as the massage itself.
It's taught me to never make assumptions, to keep learning, and to always treat the person, not just the problem.

That’s why I don’t use a one-size-fits-all approach. Before every treatment, I take time to understand how your body is feeling that day, where you’re holding tension, and what you want from the session.
From there, I adapt the pressure, techniques, and focus areas so the treatment actually responds to your body, not just a routine.

What I've improved in my massages over the years.
Over the last 15+ years, I've learned that being a good massage therapist isn't just about experience—it's about never stopping learning.
I've continued to develop my knowledge through new techniques, best practice, and a better understanding of different conditions, injuries, illnesses, and how they can affect the body. This helps me provide treatments that are better suited to each individual client.
I've also invested in creating a clinic space that's more comfortable, accessible, and welcoming, because the whole experience matters, not just the massage itself.
I'm always looking for ways to improve, so every client receives the best treatment I can provide.
What you might not realise about muscle tension.
When a muscle stays under constant tension, your nervous system can start to treat that tightness as the “new normal”. This is why some people don’t even realise how tight they are until they receive treatment.
There’s also a protective response that happens in the body called muscle guarding. When your brain senses stress, strain, or even past injury, it can tell muscles to stay slightly contracted to protect the area. The problem is, this can continue long after the original trigger has gone.
This is why tension often feels stubborn or “stuck” in certain areas, it’s not just the muscle, it’s the communication between your brain and body holding that pattern in place.
If your body feels like it never fully relaxes, it may be time to give it some support.
The new massage bed has arrived!
I've recently invested in a new electric massage bed to make treatments even more comfortable for my clients.
The biggest benefit is that the height can be adjusted, making it much easier for clients to get on and off the bed, particularly if mobility is limited or you're recovering from an injury.
I'm always looking for ways to improve the experience in the clinic, and this is another step towards making treatments as comfortable and accessible as possible.
I can't wait for my clients to try it at their next appointment!
Self-care Sunday
Take a few moments today to slow everything down.
Breathe in deeply, hold for a moment, and exhale slowly. With each breath, allow your body to let go of any built-up stress or tension from the week.
You don’t need to do anything complicated for self-care. Sometimes it’s just about creating space to reset, so your body and mind feel more balanced heading into a new week.
Try it now — a few slow breaths before your day continues.
What happens when you ignore muscle tension?
It starts as a small tight area can begin to affect movement, posture, and comfort in other parts of the body as surrounding muscles compensate. This can lead to stiffness, reduced mobility, and discomfort becoming more noticeable in daily life.
Many people also adapt without realising it, changing how they sit, stand, or move to avoid certain areas, which can create even more strain elsewhere.
The earlier you support your body, the easier it is to manage and prevent tension from building further.
If you’ve been noticing ongoing tightness, it might be time to give your body some attention.
June has been a hot one here in Benalmádena
The temperature has really ramped up this month and the fan has definitely become a must-have in the treatment room to keep everything comfortable.
It’s been a busy month in clinic, with a mix of regular clients and new faces coming in for treatment, all dealing with the usual mix of tension, tightness, and tired bodies.
Just a reminder that I am the only massage therapist at the clinic and I work strictly by appointment only. On-the-day availability is very rare, especially during busier weeks, so booking in advance is really important if you want to secure your preferred time.
