Why POLD + SCENAR + Therapeutic Exercise?

After more than 20 years as a physiotherapist, I’ve learned that persistent pain is often much more than a problem of muscles or joints. The nervous system is a key part of the equation.

That’s why at Nordicfysio we combine POLD + SCENAR + THERAPEUTIC EXERCISE to help resolve chronic problems such as sciatica, back pain and other spinal conditions.

For us, POLD is much more than mobilisation. We use it as a form of advanced manual neuromodulation, working through gentle rhythmic oscillations to influence both the central and peripheral nervous systems.

Then comes SCENAR. Through bioelectrical neuromodulation, we communicate directly with the nervous system, aiming to help normalise its response and improve the way the body manages pain and function.

I sometimes like to describe what we do as being “bioelectricians of the body.” 😊

And finally, therapeutic exercise helps the patient regain strength, movement and confidence — and consolidate the improvements achieved during treatment.

Neuromodulate. Restore. Strengthen. Recover.

That’s the philosophy I’ve developed with our team, and today it’s a big part of what makes Nordicfysio different.

Today I was genuinely impressed by the level of our new final-year French physiotherapy students, Vincent and Gabriel. 🇫🇷👏

Despite still being students, they already demonstrate remarkable independence, clinical reasoning and confidence. They are capable of assessing a patient and managing the treatment from beginning to end — an impressive level for this stage of their training.

Now comes our part. 😊

During their time at Nordicfysio, I want to pass on everything that more than 20 years of clinical experience has taught me — especially my own unique treatment method, developed through years of working with thousands of patients.

At its core is the combination of the POLD Method + Neuroadaptive Therapy (SCENAR), integrated with clinical reasoning and manual therapy to create a highly individualised approach for each patient.

And I’m very fortunate not to be doing this alone. Our Nordicfysio physiotherapists and the rest of our team are doing a fantastic job as co-tutors, sharing their knowledge, experience and different clinical perspectives with Vincent and Gabriel every day. Having several experienced professionals involved in their training gives them the opportunity to learn, question, compare approaches and grow much faster as clinicians.

Because we don't want them simply to learn techniques.

We want them to understand why, when and how to use them. To develop their hands, their clinical reasoning and their ability to see the patient as a whole rather than simply treating a diagnosis.

Our challenge over the coming weeks is to help turn these two talented students into exceptional physiotherapists with skills that truly set them apart. 💪

And when they return to France, I hope they will take the Nordicfysio philosophy and our unique way of treating with them — and carry it wherever their careers take them. 🇫🇷🇪🇸💙
