Semi-permanent makeup is all about enhancing your natural features — never changing them.

Top photo is a classic example on where pigment has gone too deep. Underneath photo is much lighter handed implantation resulting in softer natural tones. You don't need go live with the top brows, there are solutions, a couple sessions of laser to lighten them up and break down that heavy colour then we can make start a fresh and natural set!

Both of these are called “powder brows”… but only one healed the way it should.

⚠️ The top brows healed dark, heavy and blue/grey.
This can happen when:
• Too much pressure is used
• The pigment is over-saturated into the skin
• The artist works too deep
• The wrong pigment is chosen for the client’s skin tone

Instead of healing soft and airy, the brows heal solid, cool-toned and blocky and that’s not an easy fix. Correction and removal is needed.

Powder brows are meant to heal into a soft, diffused makeup look, like a gentle brow tint.

The bottom photo shows how powder brows should heal when:

Permanent makeup is still a tattoo on your face. Cheap, rushed or inexperienced work doesn’t just “fade away” it often leaves colour changes, migration, or uneven saturation that needs correction later.

(Just to clarify these are two different people not a before and after)

Laser removal of old microblading that had turned blue/grey (explained underneath) and a soft combination brow. One very happy client with new brows 🥰

I have many ladies come to me with brows that have previously been microbladed, requesting a top-up.
Each client must first be carefully assessed to determine whether it is safe or suitable to work over old microblading, as not all brows can be reworked successfully.
A common issue I see is very deep, dark microblading. This usually occurs when the pigment has been implanted too deeply into the skin. When this happens, the hair strokes heal thicker and heavier than intended, gradually expanding over time. As the pigment ages, brows can also shift to an undesired blue or grey tone, making them difficult to correct or cover.
In cases like this, removal or lightening of the old microblading is often recommended before any new work is done. This allows for better colour accuracy, improved shape, and healthier results for the skin.

Microblading, which uses a manual blade to create hair strokes, is not a recommended method for mature skin. As the skin becomes thinner and more delicate with age, there is a higher risk of the blade going too deep and causing long-term pigment issues. Powder brows and nano brows, performed with a rotary machine, are a much gentler and more controlled technique. These methods heal softly, create natural-looking results, and maintain stable tones over time without unwanted colour changes.

Please remember if you are interested in any new procedures, brows, lip blush or eyeliner it needs to be booked in Feb latest as I'm off on maternity leave early April! There are still some spaces left.

When considering investing in any semi-permanent makeup procedure, it’s essential to choose wisely and prioritise quality and safety.

I find it concerning when I see semi-permanent makeup services being advertised at extremely low prices. Important questions should always be asked: Is the practitioner fully insured? Are they legally self-employed in this country? Do they hold the correct hygiene and health licences required to practice?

Most concerning of all is seeing these procedures offered from home-based or mobile settings. In many cases, this is illegal, and practitioners operating in this way are unlikely to be properly insured or compliant with regulations.

Your safety, results, and long-term skin health should never be compromised. Always ensure you are investing in a qualified, licensed, and reputable professional.

As some of you may already know, I’m due to welcome a baby in April 🥰
I will be taking maternity leave from early April until August/September.

If you’re considering a new procedure that requires a 4–6 week top-up, please ensure your initial appointment is booked for January or February, so there’s enough time to complete treatment before my leave.

For those due for their annual or bi-annual top-ups, i will be taking appointments up to the end of march. I kindly recommend booking as soon as possible, as availability is limited and appointments will fill up quickly.
