🧵 Learning by doing is at the heart of great design.

Our participants recently completed an intensive two-week practical training at the Product Improvement Center of Excellence (PICE), where they developed essential skills in pattern design and sewing through hands-on workshop sessions.

Working directly with industry tools and techniques, participants translated design concepts into garment patterns and refined their sewing skills under expert guidance. The practical experience strengthened both their technical abilities and their understanding of the production process -key foundations for building successful careers and businesses in the fashion industry.

As part of the Creative Hub Ethiopia Entrepreneurship Bootcamp, participants took part in Bootcamp 3: Marketing & Growth Traction, equipping emerging entrepreneurs with the knowledge and practical tools needed to actively build and grow their startups.

Throughout the session, participants explored key concepts including market positioning, customer acquisition, brand visibility, growth strategies, and traction-building, learning how to transform innovative ideas into sustainable and scalable businesses.

By combining practical learning, mentorship, and collaborative problem-solving, the bootcamp continues to support entrepreneurs in developing the confidence, skills, and strategic mindset needed to navigate today’s competitive business landscape.

🌍 Strengthening innovation through international collaboration.

Representatives from Creative Hub Jimma recently participated in an international training programme in Bari, Italy, focused on incubator development, agribusiness innovation, and strengthening entrepreneurial support ecosystems.

The programme brought together innovation practitioners and institutional partners to exchange knowledge, explore practical incubation models, and share approaches that support entrepreneurs, strengthen local innovation ecosystems, and create sustainable opportunities for young people.

At Creative Hub Ethiopia, we believe that collaboration and continuous learning are essential to building stronger innovation ecosystems. We look forward to applying the knowledge and experiences gained through this programme to further support entrepreneurs and innovators across Ethiopia.

Every strong collection begins with strong research.

Last week, we had the privilege of hosting an inspiring training on Foundation Research Techniques and Fashion Graphic Design, led by Erica Marigliani. Throughout the session, participants explored how thoughtful research lays the groundwork for meaningful design, learning how to gather inspiration with intention, analyze visual references, identify trends, and translate ideas into compelling fashion graphics.

From understanding the fundamentals of fashion research to developing graphics that communicate a clear creative vision, the training equipped participants with practical tools they can apply throughout their design journey.

A new chapter for Ethiopia’s fashion ecosystem has begun.
 
Creative Hub Ethiopia proudly launched the Fashion Lab Programme with an inspiring evening that brought together government representatives, development partners, industry leaders, designers, entrepreneurs, media, and members of Ethiopia’s creative community.
 
The opening event celebrated the beginning of a programme designed to empower emerging fashion entrepreneurs through international mentorship, creative exchange, entrepreneurship, and industry-focused learning. In partnership with Accademia IUAD and UNIDO, the Fashion Lab connects Ethiopian talent with Italian expertise to strengthen innovation, storytelling, and globally competitive fashion businesses.
 
The evening concluded with a vibrant fashion showcase highlighting the creativity, craftsmanship, and potential of Ethiopia’s fashion industry demonstrating the power of collaboration in shaping the future of the creative economy.
