𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝟰 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗼 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆... 🇫🇷🥾
I hiked up 𝗣𝘂𝘆 𝗱𝗲 𝗗ô𝗺𝗲 in Clermont-Ferrand, France with about 10 other people, including 3 social workers.
It was my very first official group outing since moving to France... and let me tell you, it was bitter, sour and sweet all at once. 😂😂
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁? 😩
I don't enjoy walking long distances.
That hike dealt with me! 🤣
I was so exhausted that my entire body hurt for almost 5 days afterwards.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁? 😅
I was 28 years old, struggling to catch my breath, while children under 15 and people over 50 were casually walking past me like they were taking a stroll to the grocery store. 😂
At one point, I honestly wondered if I was going to make it to the top.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁? 😍
When I finally reached the summit...
Wow!
The fresh mountain air was worth every painful step.
The panoramic views of the 𝗖𝗵𝗮î𝗻𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗣𝘂𝘆𝘀 (the famous chain of dormant volcanoes), the forests, and the surrounding countryside were absolutely breathtaking.
I also loved exploring the historic summit area, including the remains of the ancient 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗿𝘆. Standing up there felt so peaceful.
The funniest part?
I had no idea there was a train that goes up and down the mountain! 🚆😂
But our social workers had already planned for us to hike both ways...
So after finally surviving the climb up, we still had to WALK all the way back down.
I genuinely considered sitting on my bum and sliding down... but the rocks quickly reminded me that wasn't an option. 🤣🤣
Looking back now, I'm so glad I didn't quit.
At the time, I spoke little to no French, was still new to both the country and the city, and didn't even know where we were going.
That day taught me that sometimes the experiences that stretch you the most become the memories you treasure the longest.
𝗠𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻... ❤️
Whether you're building a business, chasing a dream, or simply becoming a better version of yourself... the principle is the same.
There will always be moments when you feel like everyone else is moving ahead while you're struggling just to keep going.
You'll be tempted to compare your journey with theirs.
Don't.
Your pace is still progress.
Keep putting one foot in front of the other.
One day you'll look back and realize that the mountain you almost gave up on became the story you're most proud to tell.

This reminds me of my childhood with my elder brother Milton Chefoin.
He was so annoying, always quick to defend himself and somehow turn everything into a fight whenever I defended myself after ignoring his antics several times (poor me)😒
