FONDATION CARTIER, Paris
When a historic monument from the 19th century meets the demands of the contemporary world, the result is a timeless dialogue between past and present.
Nestled at 2 Place du Palais-Royal in Paris — directly opposite the Louvre — the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain has reopened in a beautifully transformed Haussmannian building. Originally constructed in 1855, this edifice has been reimagined by architect Jean Nouvel, who combines respect for heritage with architectural innovation.
The renovation offers around 6,500 m² of exhibition space (out of 8,500 m² open to the public) and is based on a concept of modularity: five adjustable platforms can be raised or lowered to reconfigure the interior volumes according to the needs of each exhibition.
As the Lucent French distributor, we had the pleasure of delivering several hundred of their downlights/spotlights and as ATEA few of our linear products for this emblematic project. We warmly thank L’Observatoire International for their renewed trust and for specifying these lighting solutions in a project that reinforces Paris’s status as a major destination for contemporary art.
