2024 - A Novel

Well then! What a year 2024 has been, the beginning of something exciting, I opened up a shop! Madness. Turns out it is something I told many people I would do/wanted to do, I even looked at a property pre covid but it was obviously never the right time. I had actually forgotten about this til people reminded me 😂 in true Rachel fashion!

It has been an amazing year. The support has been unmatched and the shop has been so so busy and thriving. We’ve had quieter spells, of course, but overall it’s been one of the best things I’ve ever done professionally. I will never get over having my name above the door.

Very lucky to have my daughter Katie join me in the shop, part time, whilst she works another job also part time and studies. Shes taken the lead with Spray Tanning and the reviews and feedback have been amazing.

And of course not forgetting our very talented Nail Tech, Esther. I have been a client of Esther for a very long time now and that one day when I went for my nails at the shop and she told me it was going to be available. I asked her if she would stay if I took over, she said yes and the rest is history!

Team work makes the dream work!

2025 is bringing some newness which very exciting. We are adding another treatment, something very highly requested by clients. And something that I have been working hard on behind the scenes for around two years now is hopefully launching!

It has been full on and it’s taken me a while to adjust to working longer hours, more days and a lot of extra admin! I’ve never once thought to give up, it’s not in my nature but there have been times where I’ve been overwhelmed and felt the pressure. If you know me, you’ll know that I probably worked 1/2 days a week if that. 3 (now grown) kids at home and a husband who works away a lot. I’m so used to being at home with all the time in the world to do things. Not much time now but it’s so worth it! Having support from family and friends has definitely helped.

Last but not least thank you to everyone who has supported us this year. If that means coming to the shop for treatments, liking, sharing, commenting on our posts, recommending us to friends and family or allowing us to practice any new things. We appreciate you! Thank you for always supporting in helping to raise money for Charlie House, a charity close to our hearts. or even if you just popped by to say hello - thank you!! It’s doesn’t go unnoticed and it is very much appreciated.

But also if 2024 hasn’t been your year, or quieter than before or you feel like all you have done is survived or got through the year then I’m proud of you! That in itself is an achievement. Please remember that everything you see on social media is highlighted as good or amazing but behind closed doors some people do struggle silently - it does get better/easier. Be kinder to yourself 🤍
