Please respond to the ‘Tying the Knot’ government proposals - Consultation closes on THURSDAY!!

Hopefully many of upi have seen and read the consultation document on reforming marriage law in England and Wales that was published by the Ministry of Justice at the end of July.

The proposals seem to very well considered, and an excellent framework has been produced, based on the research carried out by the Law Commission. If the proposals are carried through, it will bring much needed choice to weddings, making the option to marry more attractive and flexible for couples. The role of the independent celebrant is discussed fully so please look carefully at sections 6 and 7 in particular!

This is your chance to tell the government what you would like to see happen and suggest ideas directly to them. Please ask your family and friends to respond as well. Whether you are engaged and wanting options, already married and wish there had been more flexibility or just want your children and grandchildren to have the possibility of having a wedding ceremony which feels personal and meaningful to them or if you don't want change then now is your chance to make a difference. Felt like we had all versions of the weather this morning until the gods came out on our side and blew the clouds away leaving a gorgeous day for L&D to have their fabulous wedding ceremony with in the beautiful walled garden on the estate, so the marquee could provide shade rather than shelter! What wonderful family and friends all happy to help and offer their skills in whatever way they were needed to bring this fabulous couple's dream to reality! What a pleasure to be a part of!

What a day for R&J! We had all the weather, pouring rain which meant we moved the ceremony from outside in the garden to inside the gorgeous barn, with a little resetting / creative ingenuity; we had thunder and lightning as the ceremony started; then baking and very unexpected bright sunshine for the drinks, photos and hog roast! You could not have guessed it! Love it when suppliers, venues and family pull together to make everything flow, creating a day so full of memories for a gorgeous couple!

After a week of running around all over the country today saw me conducting a very intimate wedding ceremony less than five mins from home! Everything about this very special ceremony was designed to make it relaxed and informal but so very deeply meaningful as all four guests were involved in every aspect. When you know masses of people but want to share this special day with the people who are really important to you and who care most deeply about you then why not! It truly is your day to do your way! With soooooo much laughter too!

How exciting! Not only is it J & M's wedding today but its ghe very first official ceremony at wh8ch is looking gorgeous after its revamp! Looking forward to a chilled, fun ceremony with plenty of crisps! If you know you know! Might even get a tractor ride later!
