We are saddened to share that our beloved (and iconic) chinese crested goose, Gavin, has passed away. At the grand old age of 43 he has certainly had a long and happy life. We're all going to miss seeing him strutting around the lake, stealing the animals food and generally being a lovable presence around Millets Farm. He will be especially missed by our animal keeper Jess, who Gavin would wait for each morning by her shed and follow her around all day as a personal guard goose ๐

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came along and supported our Big Farm Vehicle event last weekend. We are delighted to share that together we have raised a phenomenal... โจยฃ9406.02โจ
We couldn't have done this without our fantastic neighbours and friends from Blanchards Farm, Fruitways Farm and H Walker & Sons for donating their tractors and machinery, as well as their time for the weekend. Thanks also go to our stallholders, our own farm team and of course, our customers for coming out (even when the weather wasnโt quite on our sideโฆ) โ๏ธ
Here is a message from SSNAP (Support for the Sick Newborn and their Parents)as to how they plan to use this money to support the incredible work they do at the JR hospital
The money raised through Millets Big Farm Vehicle Weekend will ensure that every family with a baby on the Neonatal Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital has access to vCreate, a service that costs ยฃ5,760 each year to provide. When parents cannot be by their babyโs side, vCreate allows them to receive secure video and photo updates from the NICU, offering comfort, reassurance, and precious moments of connection during an incredibly stressful and emotional time.
Your support also helps fund Little SSNAPlings, our free baby and toddler groups for families whose babies have spent time in neonatal care. These groups provide a welcoming community where parents can find understanding, friendship, and support from others who truly understand their journey. For many families, these connections become a lifeline long after they have left the hospital.
SSNAP receives no statutory funding. Everything we do is made possible through the generosity of our supporters. While babies receive care at the John Radcliffe Hospital, we provide vital emotional and practical support to families, we also fund equipment, invest in NHS staff training, and support research projects.
Over the last year SSNAP has been able to fund new breast pumps for mothers expressing milk for their babies, recliner chairs at every cot space so parents can stay close to their baby in comfort, the refurbishment of the expressing rooms, and improvements to the neonatal corridor to create a more welcoming environment for families. These are all extras that enhance the care given by the NHS and make an enormous difference to the experience of families during what is often the most difficult period of their lives.
By attending Millets and supporting SSNAP, you are helping parents stay connected with their babies, creating spaces that provide comfort and ensuring families receive support long after they leave the hospital. โค๏ธ
