Hello lovely people! ❤️ I’ve been away from the Aboyne shop for a little while dealing with some incredibly tough personal times.
Yesterday marked a massive turning point for me, and while the road has been unbelievably hard (thanks to everyone who I inappropriately cried at), I am finally feeling stronger and getting ready to face the world again.
What does the future look like? I’m not entirely sure yet, and how I operate is going to change a bit. But I am still right here! When you need your Thistle & Clay fix, I am more than happy to personally drop off orders to you. If you spend £20 or more and use the code SHOPLOCAL2026 online, I’ll pop past if you’re close enough to do that, or I’ll pop them in the post free of charge.
Our shop in Braemar is open every single day from 10am to 5pm, so you can always take a short drive up the road to see us.

Comfrey growing wild in one of my raised beds ❤️ I’ll be making extracts three ways, distilling in water, in jojoba oil, and in alcohol, and using these to make products for my family.
Rich in rosmarinic acid, it reduces redness and irritation. The allantoin and antioxidant compounds in comfrey promote healthy cell turnover. It also contains mucilage, a natural humectant that forms a protective barrier to prevent water loss and seal moisture into the skin. By stimulating collagen synthesis, comfrey helps improve elasticity, firms the skin, and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

A small update from me 🌿
Alongside my skincare business, I’m opening up a very small number of spaces for marketing and design work for other small businesses.
I’ve worked in branding and marketing strategy for over 20 years, and I know how hard it can be (especially as a small business owner myself) to get clear messaging, consistent branding, and websites that actually bring in customers.
So I’m keeping it very simple: offering Website and brand audits, brand refresh, strategic marketing and messaging support. Practical, no-nonsense improvements to help convert more customers.
