Perfumes Paired With Poems
Where scent becomes language.

It has been a LONG time since I shared one of these and I felt like reinstating my Perfumes Paired with Poems series…considering we all feel that fragrances connect to so much more than just smell.

🕊️ Diptyque — Eau Duelle
A study in restraint. Soft vanilla and spice echo the humility and intimacy of This Is Just To Say. Beauty found in the ordinary, pleasure without apology.
🕊️ Frédéric Malle — L’Eau d’Hiver
Sheer, powdery, almost weightless. A fragrance that mirrors Lines Written in Early Spring. Reflective, tender, and gently aware of what it means to be human in the world.
🕊️ Aesop — Hwyl
Dry woods and cool smoke held in balance. Paired with Fire and Ice, this scent explores tension and contrast.
🕊️ Dries Van Noten — Soie Malaquais
Textured, enveloping, quietly sensual. Like The Gardener, it observes beauty without trying to possess it.
🕊️ Ormaie — Papier Carbone
Green, inky, alive with movement. A Line-Storm Song pulses through this fragrance. Breath, tension, and closeness captured in scent.
🕊️ Serge Lutens Fille de Berlin - Dark, metallic rose meets resilience and power. Aligned with poetry about strength, identity, and refusal to disappear
🕊️ DS&Durga Radio Bombay - Modern alienation bottled. Creamy woods and heat hum beneath a poem of hesitation and inner monologue.
🕊️ Byredo Bibliotheque - A scent that lives inside libraries and late-night margins. Perfect for lovers of dark academia and poetic obsession.

Yes fragrances are worn, but scent evokes so much more than that,
These perfumes are paired with poems that share the same emotional temperature, intimacy, restraint, tension, stillness. Not by notes alone, but by feeling.

Which pairing feels most like you?

My therapist said to surround myself with healthy coping mechanisms… so here we are, enter Diptyque ✨

Potentially not such sound advice but I see fragrance as a ritual and a therapy in itself and have mastered the art of fragrance rituals with their collection. The bottles, the compositions, the way each scent feels like a place, a memory, or a moment captured in glass, the artistry, need I say more?

Consider this a gentle reminder that sometimes the smallest daily rituals can make the biggest difference.

What’s the one Diptyque fragrance you’ll never be without?

Shall we order Room Service? If it’s Vilhelm, always ✨

It occurred to me recently that I wear Room Service more often than I actually account for and it fully deserves a 5 star rating. This is a fragrance that redefines understated luxury. Once again, my Vilhelm Parfumerie collection deserves appreciation.

Yes, it has clean nuances that nod to the concept of the freshly folded sheets of a hotel room suite, or the bubble bath you run during a luxury stay, but it’s so much more than that. There’s a sparkling nature to it, reminiscent of a chilled bottle of something from the unlisted menu, it is the epitome of class, an elevated chic and an effortless air of the elite. A depth of mystery and a thread of something secretive.

Not once has there been a time that I have worn this and it has gone unnoticed or not received many compliments, which would suggest, it is a scent worth knowing about.

Notes : mandarin nectar, blackberry | pink orchid, bamboo, violet, black amber, musk, sandalwood

Perfumer : Jérôme Epinette

Call me the barista of fragrances, these coffee perfumes are my favourite kind of menu ✨

As a self admitted coffee snob, both in drinkable form and in fragrance form, I tend to want a full bodied punch of intense back coffee, not drenched in syrup or excessive sweetness, not too much milk or foam, just rich, perfectly roasted coffee. These fragrances capture that perfectly in different ways.

Okay maybe there’s a hint of warm ambery gourmand notes here and there or a spritz of citrus, like and espresso Romano, but throughout each of these perfumes, there is a true depth of coffee.

So which would you add to your coffee order?

✨ Awake
✨ Coffea
✨ Narcotic Bohemic
✨ Silence Eloquent
✨ Strange Heavens Out of the Blue
✨ Taif Rose
✨ .official Black Karak
✨ Numinous
✨ Pavillon Rouge
✨ Lovers and Strangers

The evolution of green perfumery 🌿

Green fragrances have undergone one of the biggest transformations in modern perfumery.

In the 1970s, they were bold, uncompromising and instantly recognisable. Galbanum, oakmoss and crushed leaves created fragrances with real presence. Confident scents that celebrated nature in all its sharp, leafy intensity.

Over the decades, that profile softened. Greens became blended with florals, woods and musks before the clean fragrance movement introduced lighter, more transparent interpretations.

Today, green is more diverse than ever. A single category can take you from creamy fig leaves and aromatic herbs to rain-soaked forests, mineral coastlines, tomato vines and delicate skin scents that wear like a second layer of nature.

It’s a reminder that “green” isn’t a single smell, it’s an entire textural colour palette within perfumery, and one that continues to evolve with every generation of perfumers.

Which era of green perfumery speaks to you most?
🌿 Vintage powerhouse greens
🌿 Modern skin greens
🌿 Botanical niche creations

Fragrances I wore last week ✨

Another week of Summer called for a fragrance wardrobe that stayed fresh, uplifting and easy to wear, with plenty of greens, soft florals and a few layering combinations that completely changed some familiar favourites. There were a couple of rediscoveries, some combinations I’ll definitely be repeating, and one in particular that is now a lucky scent pairing.

✨ Vilhelm Parfumerie Modest Mimosa was soft, sunny and effortlessly elegant. One of those fragrances that instantly puts me in a good mood.
✨ Diptyque Philosykos layered with Le Labo Eucalyptus 20 Creamy fig and cool eucalyptus made for the perfect air of emotional clarity.
✨ L’Atelier Parfum Matcha Crème brought a creamy green freshness that was perfect on slower days.
✨ Dior Gris Dior layered with Lumira Neon Moon bright with a luminous edge and elegant character, my lucky scent for this weeks meetings.
✨ Mind Games Vieri reminded me why it’s one of my favourite modern green fragrances. Crisp, aromatic and incredibly easy to wear.
✨ Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 + Black Tea layered with Le Labo Baie 19 freshness and effervescence with mineral earthiness.
✨ Neydo Breathe Out 01.02 Fresh, airy and incredibly cleansing.
✨ Vilhelm Parfumerie Room Service layered with Byredo La Tulipe and DS & Durga I Don’t Know What - the most beautiful clean floral cloud with just the right amount of radiance.
✨ THoO Amore - playful yet sophisticated, another masterpiece by THoO that plays on sweetness, texture and freshness all in one.

It’s been another week where layering has completely stolen the show. Some of these combinations have earned a permanent place in my summer rotation.

Which one would you wear first?

Two very different interpretations of green from Le Labo. 🌿

Eucalyptus 20 captures the feeling of cool mountain air drifting through towering trees. Airy eucalyptus, soft woods and resinous notes create something incredibly calming, fresh and cleansing. It has a peaceful, almost meditative quality that keeps me coming back to it.

Baie 19 heads in a completely different direction. Inspired by petrichor, it recreates the smell of rain falling onto dry earth, with damp soil, crushed greenery and mineral facets taking centre stage. Raw, atmospheric and incredibly comforting.

They couldn’t be more different, yet both showcase just how varied green fragrances can be. One is all about fresh forest air, the other is nature after the rain.

Which are you choosing: Eucalyptus 20 or Baie 19?
