This beautiful client came to me for a tan for Bottomless brunch with the girls.

How stunning does she look 😍 A tan just makes everything better!

Claire likes a good tan so we went with olive medium to give her just that - a natural but fairly deep looking tan!

All products including moisturisers have their place & certain ones are good for certain things but these ones (along with some others) are NO good for when it comes to spray tans.

Why?

Because products containing -

❗️Mineral oils
❗️Emollient's
❗️High levels of alcohol
❗️Sulphates

Can cause -

❗️Dry skin, which leads to a flaky patchy tan
❗️A break down the DHA reaction (which is how your skin takes to the tan)
❗️Uneven fading of your tan
❗️A tan that doesn't last as long as it should
❗️A patchy tan
❗️A tan that doesn't 'take' to your skin as it should

Avoid products with these ingredients in the week leading up to your tan & after your tan for the best results!

✨ Safe Post Spray tan Moisturisers ✨

I'm always asked what moisturisers I'd recommend post spray tanning and these are the main ones!

These are all 'tan safe' and will elevate your tan by keeping your skin hydrated and moisturised.

🧴 Dry skin both pre and post tan = quicker fading tan, tan looking dull & patchy wear off.

🧴 Hydrated skin both pre & post tan = Super long lasting tan, glowy looking tan/skin & even wear off.

🧴 Oils are generally a no go post tan - the two here are an exception (BUT should only be used on top of a moisturiser to lock in it - if you are particularly dry/prefer an oil)

The basic rules are -

Only use moisturisers -

❌ Containing NO Mineral oils

❌ NO Emollient based moisturiser's

✅ Natural oil based products are good

✅ Ideally a moisturiser with no/little amounts of alcohol/skin stripping ingredients

✅ You should start moisturising your skin on day 2 of the tan and every day after.

❗️All these products are safe pre tan also but you should stop using 24 hours prior to tan (at least 5-7 days prior for any oils)❗️

✨✨ Let's talk post spray tan clothing ✨✨

✅ Loose fitting trousers/shorts

✅ Loose fitting t-shirt/top

✅ Loose flowy dress

✅ Flip flops

✅ Darker clothing is better to avoid tan transfer whilst the tan is developing

❌ No bra (unless you prefer to be sprayed wearing it)

❌ No tight fitting restrictive clothing items (leggings/fitted t-shirt)

❌ Avoid strappy tops

❌ No fitted shoes/boots

❌Avoid light coloured clothing

The perk of being a 1-2-1 studio means it's only ever myself and you in the cabin & with road parking just outside no need to do the post tan dash to the car in a busy salon/town 🙊

Knowing there would be lots of bright lights on the day we opted for a deep shade ensuring she still looked glowing up on the stage!
